Singer and actress IU has once again shown her commitment to giving back by donating 200 million KRW (about $143,090) in celebration of her birthday this year.
On May 16, her agency EDAM Entertainment announced that IU donated the name 'IUAENA,' a combination of her name and the name of her fanbase, UAENA. The donation was split equally among four organizations, with each receiving 500 million KRW (about $357,730).
The funds will go toward supporting vulnerable groups in South Korea, including low-income families, elderly individuals living alone, young people preparing to live independently, single-parent households, and people with disabilities.
The donations were delivered to Hope Joyagdol, the National Center for the Rights of the Child, Happygiver, and Ddadong. The money will be used to provide living support for struggling households and seniors, help youths transition into society, offer financial assistance for single parents in need of medical or educational support, and improve facilities and assistive technologies for people with disabilities.
IU has consistently donated on meaningful occasions such as her birthday, debut anniversary, and the year-end holiday season. Earlier this year, she donated 200 million KRW (about $143,090) to support wildfire recovery in the Gyeongsang region and improve conditions for firefighters. In May, she also donated 150 million KRW ($107,334) in honor of children’s day, providing aid to children and adolescents in need.
With her latest donation, IU’s total contributions in 2025 have reached 500 million KRW (about $357,730), continuing her strong legacy of kindness and social responsibility.
Meanwhile, IU is set to release her third remake album on May 27, marking her first remake project in eight years. She is also preparing to begin filming for MBC’s upcoming drama '21st Century Grand Prince’s Wife.'
