The group formerly known as (G)I-DLE is embarking on a bold new chapter under the rebranded name i-dle.
Today (May 19) at 6 PM KST, i-dle will release their 8th mini album "We are" across major music streaming platforms. This marks their first comeback in 10 months since the release of their 7th mini album "I SWAY" in July 2023. With all five members having renewed their contracts with CUBE Entertainment and 2024 marking their 7th debut anniversary, the album is generating significant attention as their first major step forward under the simplified group name.
On May 2, in celebration of their 7th anniversary, the group officially dropped the “G” from their name, transitioning from (G)I-DLE to i-dle. The name change reflects the group’s evolving identity—one that transcends gender labels and aims to deliver boundary-defying music and concepts.
To commemorate the change, I-DLE released a series of visually impactful videos, including for (G)—a symbolic farewell to the letter "G"—and an i-dentity trailer, where each member personally said goodbye to (G). The group also released a special album titled "We are i-dle", reimagining their past hits as a five-member team, reinforcing their redefined artistic identity.

The new album "We are" features six tracks:
-
Title track: “Good Thing”
-
Pre-release single: “Girlfriend”
-
B-sides: “Love Tease,” “Chain,” “Unstoppable,” and “If You Want”
Fittingly for a project centered on unity and growth, all members contributed to the songwriting and production.
Soyeon, known for her producing prowess, wrote and composed both the lead single “Good Thing” and “Girlfriend.” The former delivers i-dle’s signature bold and confident energy, while the latter offers warm emotional support to a friend experiencing heartbreak.
“Good Thing” blends retro elements with clever 8-bit sound effects and infectious hooks, including the playful refrain “Holy moly shhh.” Its point choreography—featuring a “thumbs-up” motion—has already made waves in pre-release short-form clips. The “Good Thing” Challenge, launched using a shortened version of the song, has already attracted major influencers, hinting at viral potential.
Following the release of "We are" at 6 PM, I-DLE will connect with fans through a COMEBACK LIVE event at 9 PM via Naver NOW’s Chzzzik and the group’s official YouTube channel.
