The fiercely competitive 61st Baeksang Arts Awards came to a close with the Grand Prize in the television category going to 'Culinary Class Wars.'
Held at 8 p.m. on May 5 at COEX Hall D in Samseong-dong, the ceremony was hosted by Shin Dong Yup, Suzy, and Park Bo Gum.
The show made history as the first variety program to win the Baeksang Grand Prize in the Television category.
'Culinary Class Wars' sparked a major phenomenon both in Korea and abroad and is currently preparing for its second season.

Director Kim Hak Min, who helmed the show, shared his thoughts and said, "I want to thank Baek Jong Won, Ahn Sung Jae, and the chefs for keeping the show grounded.” He added emotionally, “I remember being backstage when Na Young Seok sunbae won the Grand Prize. I thought I’d never experience that moment myself as a PD, but something unbelievable has happened.”
Studio Slam’s CEO, the production company behind the show, added, “It’s deeply meaningful to receive the Grand Prize at Baeksang with a variety show. As the global status of K-content rises, K-variety is gaining recognition as well.” He continued, “So many variety shows are being made, with countless people working hard behind the scenes. I hope that this prestigious awards ceremony, Baeksang, which values difference and diversity, will continue to honor more creators in the variety space.”
This year’s 61st Baeksang Arts Awards aimed to stay true to its identity as a celebration of the entire pop culture and arts industry while embracing changes. Most notably, the "TV category" was renamed the broader "Broadcast category" to reflect an evolving media landscape. The updated category included standout performers across all platforms, blurring the boundaries of traditional TV.
