The production team of SBS TV’s popular variety show 'Running Man' has issued a warning about recent impersonation scams involving fraudulent requests for luxury liquor deliveries.
On May 15, SBS announced that individuals pretending to be members of the 'Running Man' staff have been demanding bulk deliveries of expensive alcohol. They emphasized that the production team never makes such requests under any circumstances. Viewers are urged not to respond to any suspicious messages and to take extra precautions to avoid falling victim to fraud. SBS added that they will make every effort to prevent similar incidents in the future.
This warning follows an active police investigation by the Suwon South Police Station in Gyeonggi Province. On May 14, a karaoke bar owner was tricked into transferring 3.9 million KRW (approximately $2,791) for three bottles of premium whiskey and delivery charges. The scammer disappeared after the transaction and had falsely claimed to be a 'Running Man' producer.
This incident is part of a growing trend in which scammers impersonate entertainment staff and celebrities, leading to a rise in no show fraud cases. Public figures including singers Nam Jin, Yoon Jong Shin and Song Ga In along with actors Ha Jung Woo, Namkoong Min and Byeon Woo Seok and comedian Lee Soo Geun have all spoken out to raise awareness and encourage caution.
