Model Yano Shiho opened up about her daughter Choo Sarang’s emotional journey in coping with the death of her grandfather.
On April 22, Shiho took to her personal social media account and shared a photo of Sarang in a judo uniform, writing, “I never imagined a judo uniform would suit her so well… It holds her feelings for her late grandfather.”
She revealed, “After her grandfather passed away, Sarang would suddenly burst into tears every few months. This went on for almost two years.” She explained that her daughter’s first encounter with death had left a lasting emotional impact: “It became a big trauma for her. Every time she cried, I was genuinely worried about how she could overcome it.”
However, Shiho shared that things had recently changed. “Lately, she doesn’t cry anymore. When I saw this photo, I felt she might have overcome something within. I’m truly grateful that she had this opportunity,” she added.
On the April 20th episode of the ENA variety show ‘My Child’s Private Life’, Sarang requested a special photo session after a scheduled photoshoot. She wanted to wear a judo uniform—an outfit with special meaning to both her father, mixed martial artist Choo Sung Hoon, and her late grandfather.
The uniform had her father’s name “Choo Sung Hoon” on the right sleeve, and her grandfather’s name “Choo Gye Yi” on the left. Tearfully, Sarang expressed her longing: “Grandpa, I love you. I miss you so much.”
Moved by his daughter’s heartfelt gesture, Choo Sung Hoon said, “When my father passed away, I dressed him in a judo uniform and tied his belt. When my time comes, Sarang will tie it for me.”
Choo Sung Hoon and Shiho Yano are married and have one daughter, Choo Sarang, who gained wide popularity through variety shows in her younger years.
