The highly anticipated Disney+ drama 'The Remarried Empress' — already drawing buzz for its star-studded cast including Shin Min Ah, Ju Ji Hoon, Lee Jong Suk, and Lee Se Young — is finally set for release. The series is scheduled to premiere in May or June, with the exact date currently under discussion.
The drama is based on the globally popular web novel of the same name, which had amassed approximately 2.6 billion cumulative views worldwide as of December 2024.
Originally serialized in 2018, the web novel gained explosive popularity, was adapted into a webtoon, and has since been translated into 10 languages, becoming a globally recognized intellectual property (IP).
The series is directed by Jo Soo Won, known for acclaimed dramas like 'I Can Hear Your Voice', 'Pinocchio', and '30 But 17'.
