As of April 3rd, Cha Eun Woo is set to make his big-screen debut as a lead actor, teaming up with Kang Ha Neul for the upcoming movie 'First Ride' (working title).
On April 3rd, Cha Eun Woo’s agency, Fantagio, officially announced, "Cha Eun Woo has confirmed his appearance in the film 'First Ride.'"
Directed by Nam Dae Jung, who previously helmed 'Love Reset' (2013), 'First Ride' follows four lifelong friends who embark on their first international trip together to celebrate turning 30. The film, blending comedy with large-scale action sequences and the appearance of villains, is already generating excitement among moviegoers.
Kang Ha Neul, who worked with director Nam Dae Jung on 'Love Reset,' had already confirmed his role in 'First Ride' a year ago based on his trust in the director. Since then, Cha Eun Woo, Kim Young Kwang Kang Young Seok, and Han Sunhwa have also joined the cast. The film officially began production on March 28th.
This marks Cha Eun Woo’s first time leading a movie. Although he briefly appeared in 'My Brilliant Life' (2014) and 'Decibel' (2022), he has never played a character driving the entire narrative.
With 'First Ride' revolving around the camaraderie of its four main characters, all eyes are on how Cha Eun Woo will showcase his acting skills in a pivotal role. His choice of a comedy film for his first leading role also reflects his adventurous spirit and desire to expand his filmography in new directions.
Currently filming the Netflix series 'The Wonder Fools,' Cha Eun Woo is balancing multiple projects and is expected to continue his relentless work schedule until his military enlistment.
