Wang Yiren, a member of EVERGLOW, recently shared her struggles as an idol, revealing that despite being in the industry for six years, she has yet to receive any income from her group activities.
Through a fan communication platform, Yiren stated, “I really love performing on stage, but I haven’t made any money at all.” She continued, “Even so, I don’t want to give up on this career. The reality is that we have never received any settlement.”
She further explained, “That’s why we work so hard to prepare for our tour performances—we genuinely want to show our fans a great stage.” However, she also expressed regret, saying, “I always feel sorry that we can’t bring you new songs and performances more often.”
Reiterating her financial situation, Yiren added, “Since debuting, I’ve been a zero-wage worker. I have never been paid even once.” Despite this, she maintained a positive outlook, stating, “But it’s okay. At least I can still meet our fans, FOREVER, and have opportunities to perform on stage.”
Fans were shocked to learn that a six-year-old girl group had yet to see any financial returns, with many expressing concerns over EVERGLOW’s future.
Debuting on March 21, 2019, under Yuehua Entertainment Korea, EVERGLOW is a six-member multinational girl group consisting of E:U, Sihyeon, Mia, Onda, Aisha, and Yiren. Their hit songs include “ZOMBIE,” “SLAY,” “Pirate,” “FIRST,” and “DUN DUN.”
The group successfully completed their '2023 EVERGLOW US TOUR ‘ALL MY GIRLS’' and made a comeback in June 2023 with their fifth single album “ZOMBIE.”
Yiren first gained recognition through Mnet’s survival audition program ‘PRODUCE 48’, where she competed alongside fellow EVERGLOW member Sihyeon.
