NJZ's parents alleged that HYBE chairman Bang Si Hyuk had tried to cancel the group’s performance at ComplexCon Hong Kong.
On February 19, NJZ's parents took to their social media and released a statement claiming that "HYBE Chairman Bang Si Hyuk personally called officials in the U.S. to pressure them into canceling NJZ members' performance."
The parents continued to explain, "We felt extremely upset and angry, realizing that HYBE, just like before, still sees the members only as a means to make money, without any intention of supporting their success. Instead, they only seek to obstruct and bring them down. Since then, we have also heard that ADOR has made multiple attempts to interfere."
Despite the interference, NJZ's parents assured the group would be performing at the Hong Kong music festival.
Following the statement, Korean netizens gathered in a popular online community to criticize Bang Si Hyuk's alleged actions. They threw shade at the HYBE chairman for "stooping low" and trying to obstruct NJZ's activities.
They commented:
"So disgusting. Does he really have no moral compass?"
"When you insisted you were separate entities, but now you're acting as one? LOL. You twist things however it suits you, and that’s exactly why the public isn't on your side."
"He didn’t even acknowledge the members' greetings, threw the group's project plans to another label and kept interfering the whole time. But he's still causing this mess. And when the group tries to start fresh, it’s the same nonsense."
"Si Hyuk, didn’t you say you were going to start fresh without NJZ? Please, just do it. Stop being so pathetic."
