Paralyzed YouTuber Park Wi points out accessibility issues at awards venue.
YouTuber Park Wi, who is paralyzed from the waist down, commented on the lack of barrier-free accessibility at the 2024 MBC Entertainment Awards venue.
The 2024 MBC Entertainment Awards aired live on January 28th. Originally scheduled for December 29th, the event was postponed due to the tragic Jeju Air passenger plane incident that occurred that morning.
During the ceremony, Park Wi and Song Ji Eun were nominated for Best Couple Award. When asked if they expected to win, Song Ji Eun replied, "Just being here is an honor. We’re here to applaud those who receive the award."
Park Wi, however, made a pointed observation, saying with a serious expression, "I looked around, and there’s no ramp. So I guess it won’t be me."
Host Jun Hyun Moo, seemingly caught off guard, responded, "If you win, we’ll install one right away. But installing it on the spot would be too obvious, so…" attempting to justify the situation.
Park Wi quickly reassured, "I was just joking." Song Ji Eun also added, "It was a joke."
Jun Hyun Moo, visibly flustered, said, "Please don’t make jokes like this on live broadcast. I’m sweating. We are fully prepared."
Meanwhile, the Best Couple Award went to Yoo Jae Suk and Haha from 'Hangout With Yoo.'
