As the national mourning period continues following the Jeju Air passenger plane disaster, broadcasting stations are canceling entertainment programs to honor the victims.
According to the program schedule, tvN’s You Quiz on the Block (hereafter You Quiz), which was set to feature Song Hye-kyo on January 1, has been postponed. Her episode will now air on January 8, with the movie Count taking its place in the canceled time slot.
Similarly, MBC’s Radio Star has also been canceled, and the movie Single in Seoul will be broadcast instead.
Other entertainment programs, such as Channel A’s These Days Men’s Life – Groom Class and TV Chosun’s Miss Three and the Sun, have also been canceled.
However, KBS 2TV’s The Return of Superman, SBS’s The Girls Who Kick the Ball, and SBS Plus and ENA’s I’m Solo will air as scheduled.
Meanwhile, on the morning of December 29, Jeju Air Flight 7C2216 from Bangkok, Thailand, crashed while attempting to land at Muan International Airport in Jeollanam-do. Of the 181 passengers on board, 179 lost their lives, and only two survived.
In response, the government designated the period from December 29 to January 4 as a national mourning period. Joint incense burners have been set up at Muan International Airport and in 17 cities and provinces across the country to honor the victims.
