Sunmi confessed that she is a "power homebody" during a recent broadcast.
On December 18, Sunmi appeared alongside TWICE’s Tzuyu on the YouTube channel 'Studio Teuk’s' show "Favorite Camping."
During the show, Tzuyu couldn't hide her excitement about meeting her "favorite unnie" (older sister figure). When asked if she was referring to TWICE’s Jeongyeon as her favorite, Tzuyu replied, "Not Jeongyeon unnie, but an even more favorite unnie," revealing that it was none other than Sunmi. Tzuyu then shared, "Before I came to Korea, Wonder Girls was the first K-pop group I got to know. I was 13 years old," revealing that she had been a fan of Wonder Girls.
Sunmi expressed her gratitude toward Tzuyu, saying, "When I debuted as a solo artist, you mentioned me as your role model, and that news spread everywhere. I remember thinking, ‘Wow, maybe ONCE (TWICE's fanbase) will recognize me. Should I try aiming for a global audience?’ So, thank you for mentioning me." Tzuyu replied warmly, "It’s an honor for me. Because I said that, it even led to moments like this."
When Tzuyu mentioned that she tends to be shy around people, Sunmi teased her, saying, "But you weren’t shy when we ate together recently, were you?" This prompted Tzuyu to laugh and realize, "Maybe I’m just shy around cameras, not people."
Sunmi then opened up about her homebody lifestyle, admitting, "I rarely go out because I don't have any plans. I think I only had about three outings this year. One of those was with Tzuyu, and the other two were with Sohee and Producer Park Jin Young (J.Y. Park). I’m really grateful to them for dragging me outside."
Recalling her meet-up with Tzuyu, Sunmi shared, "We had sushi and sake. I’m not a big drinker, but I noticed that Tzuyu isn’t either." To this, Tzuyu playfully responded, "I didn’t drink as much that day."
One common trait between Sunmi and Tzuyu is their love for food. Sunmi confessed, "I really love eating too. But now I feel like I have to control myself. I used to think I had a body type that wouldn’t gain weight, but it turns out I do. When I gain weight, it tends to show in my upper body. Since our faces appear on-screen, if your face gains weight, it really shows on camera."
In the past, Sunmi revealed on a variety show that she intentionally gained 9 kg (about 20 lbs) while promoting her song "Heroine." She admitted, "I thought I was going to collapse, so I purposely gained weight until I reached 50 kg (about 110 lbs)."
