Girl group aespa (under SM Entertainment) has received global acclaim for their track ‘Supernova,’ which has been recognized as one of the best songs of 2024.
‘Supernova’ recently claimed the top spot on Billboard’s ‘The 25 Best K-Pop Songs of 2024: Staff Picks’ chart.
Billboard praised the track, stating, “‘Supernova’ is not only the signature song that opens aespa’s first full-length album ‘Armageddon,’ but it also defines K-pop in 2024. Within just three minutes, the track achieves a perfect balance of innovation and structure, featuring three fully-loaded choruses, dynamic verses, an emotional bridge, and a commanding dance break. Despite its ambitious complexity, aespa maintains a sense of cohesion and polish throughout, reaching new heights.”
Earlier, ‘Supernova’ was also included in NME’s ‘50 Best Songs of 2024.’ The British music magazine noted, “NASA-approved ‘Supernova’ makes its presence known from the very first seconds. With explosive sounds, soaring synths, and aespa’s confident and cool ‘I’m like… some kind of supernova’ lyric, the song is packed with upbeat electro beats and unforgettable hooks, proving that girl groups can conquer uncharted territory.”
Meanwhile, aespa is set to participate in ‘SMTOWN LIVE 2025’ in Seoul, which will take place on January 11th and 12th at the Gocheok Sky Dome.
