In a recent episode of the MBN variety show 'GabojaGO', prominent entertainment producer Kim Kwang Soo who's best known as the founder of MBK Entertainment finally addressed long-standing rumors about his alleged assault of singer and TV personality Kim Jong Kook, formerly of the group Turbo.
Known for his involvement with numerous K-pop groups, including T-ara and SG Wannabe, Kwang Soo has been dogged by controversy throughout his career. The MCs of the program Ahn Jung Hwan and Hong Hyun Hee cautiously broached the subject of the alleged assault, hesitant to offend their guest. However, Kwang Soo encouraged them to be direct, expressing a desire to clear the air.
Hong Hyun Hee asked point-blank if he had physically assaulted Kim Jong Kook, expressing surprise at the idea given his seemingly gentle demeanor. Ahn Jung Hwan echoed her doubts, humorously pointing out Kim Jong Kook's impressive physique.
Kim clarified that the incident in question actually occurred when Turbo was under the management of a different company. He explained that Turbo joined his agency after a merger, leading to the misconception that he was involved in the assault. "It was something that happened between Turbo and their previous company's CEO," Kwang Soo clarified. "But because they were under my agency at the time, it appeared as though I was the one who assaulted them."
Kim recounted a humorous anecdote about a later encounter with Kim Jong Kook, where he jokingly lamented, "Because of you, I've become known as the guy who assaulted you." Kim Jong Kook reportedly responded with apologies, acknowledging the unintentional misunderstanding.
