BADVILLAIN, the rising girl group making waves in the music scene, held a showcase on November 19th at Yes24 Live Hall in Seoul to celebrate the release of their new digital single, ‘Zoom.’
The song embodies the group’s confidence, featuring strong vocals, rapping, and dynamic performances that have been their signature since debut. While their first album, ‘OVERSTEP,’ marked a bold step beyond traditional boundaries, ‘Zoom’ reflects their determination to carve their own path and solidify their unique artistic identity.
Debuting in June with ‘OVERSTEP,’ which was produced by MC Mong, BADVILLAIN quickly drew attention as a promising act. Their return just five months later with ‘Zoom’ highlights their rapid growth. The group expressed excitement about their comeback, stating that they worked hard to show their development and hoped fans would embrace their efforts.
The new single continues to showcase their hip-hop-inspired style with a visually striking and powerful performance. Emma, a member known for her professional dance background, contributed to the choreography, further elevating the stage’s impact. She shared that the group focused on perfecting their unity and live performance, aiming to impress fans with both their vocals and dynamic moves.
Emma, previously recognized as a backup dancer for top artists like CL, Taemin, and HyunA, and as a contestant on Mnet’s ‘Street Woman Fighter 1,’ spoke about her transition from dancer to idol. Acknowledging that many still associate her with her dance background, she emphasized her dedication to developing her vocal skills and artistry. She expressed hope that fans would see her as a member of BADVILLAIN rather than solely as a dancer.
Among the group’s members is Bin, the younger sister of actor and former Golden Child member Choi Bomin, whose familial connection has drawn significant attention. Bin shared her gratitude for her brother’s support, revealing that he offers encouragement and advice on stage performance.
BADVILLAIN has also gained positive attention internationally, with member Chloe Young attributing their success abroad to the group’s high-energy performances that resonate with global audiences. She noted that their ability to convey energy through videos may be one of the reasons for their growing popularity overseas.
