TREASURE's Hyunsuk faces criticism as fans voice concerns over perceived change in his attitude

AKP STAFF

In K-pop, the synergy between artists and their fans holds significant weight and influence.

Of late, Hyunsuk from TREASURE has been in the spotlight, diverting attention from his artistic skills and charismatic stage presence to a perceived transformation in his demeanor. This perceived shift has elicited feelings of disenchantment and agitation among a faction of his supporters.

These individuals have congregated on Nate Pann to articulate their concerns and share their discontent regarding the idol's recent conduct.

The incident began with Hyunsuk's recent change in styling. Since his initial introduction to the music scene, there has been a pronounced evolution in his style. Recently, he had a lip piercing and this ignited a debate among his fans.

Fans expressed, "This is so absurd that it's hilarious. Everytime he went on live streaming, he complained about everything, whined about how tough it is for him, speaking negatively about everything. He can't handle even a few crazy haters' comments and would complain to his fans about them. He did this for a few weeks and then stop showing up on Weverse. When he came back he comes back to show off his lip piercing and is now fiercely interacting on Weverse, which is laughable."

Another fan shared, "Seriously, where can you find idols who start in individual rooms without any debt while getting instant settlements and receiving one billion won (750,000 USD) in investments? Now, they're in their third year, splurging on luxury items left and right, going on luxury shopping sprees, but during their livestream, they're complaining about how difficult and painful it is. The fans were genuinely worried and even suggested that they should hold a fan support event yesterday and filled the comment section with sweet words. The next day, we hear that the leaders got their noses and lips pierced, and they vented their stress on Weverse. Still can't figure out why we are so frustrated? If they want to do everything they want, why even become idols in the first place? I just think the reason he said those things during the live broadcast was simply because he wanted to get his piercings."

Then, on November 1, Hyunsuk shared a post with lyrics from the song "Gossip" by Misogi.

Fans speculated that this was not a genuine song recommendation, but Hyunsuk was giving a backhanded comment about the complaints fans have been expressing.

In response, one fan wrote, "Hyunsuk... all Treasure Makers (TREASURE fandom) know that you don't recommend songs like this, capturing a screenshot. It doesn't even feel like you really wanted to recommend it because you like the song, and it's a bit disappointing. I wish you had opened the door to November with songs that you genuinely love. It seems unavoidable to feel this way."

Other fans joined the online community and also explained that the fans were not just simply disappointed with Hyunsuk's latest piercing, but by his attitude toward his fans. They explained, "It's not just because of the piercing... Fans have been wanting a calmer styling from the very beginning, but for over a year and eight months, he's been going with the styling he wants and even sporting a man bun style. We never said anything directly about it but a few days ago, he's been saying he's really struggling these days and he said he can't do what he wants in the group. He said he doesn't like the style from his debut-era. He would look at the Namu Wiki page and he asked fans to even change his profile photo because he doesn't like it. He asked fans if they would like him no matter what, so fans thought he was really struggling so we were supportive of him. But then the next day he said he was stressed so he got a piercing. So fans complained to him. And that same morning he posted the lyrics to that song. I really think TREASURE members have it easy compared to other idols. If other idols did what they're doing, they would have been canceled," "I don't think he wants fans, he wants servants and an ATM," and "He is really taking everything for granted."

I'm not the type who'd guilt-trip fans into supporting an idol no matter what and generally believe that any fan has the right to stop supporting an idol whatever the reason. So I don't get these girls. You really don't have to support this guy if you don't like him, you're not obliged to. I'd rather leave than try to mold an idol into something he's not or pressure him to act fake.

Not sure what people expect when they get into YG groups. If you want the calm, cute boys then search them in different company.

Also I don't understand that Weverse thing, he makes lives regulary (not sure if some of them wasn't deleted). Him and Jihoon communicate the most through lives, Being an idol doesn't mean you should take it all and don't complain, even if they call you mentally ill for having your own opinions.
