SHINee's Onew comforted fans after news of his hiatus and health.

On June 9, SM Entertainment announced Onew would be absent from SHINee's upcoming concerts and album promotions due to his worsening health. Onew himself then took to Instagram to reassure worried fans. He wrote:

"Hello. This is Onew! I thought some people may have been shocked and thought I should say something. The point is that I'll come back after recovering!

I apologize for worrying so many people and would be grateful if you thought of this as a time to take a break for the sake of SHINee, who I'll be with in the future! Considering the timing, I thought a lot about it, but I wasn't recovering. I think there may have been a misunderstanding or error, but I've made this decision to protect what I want to protect and because the future is more important. Anyway, please be happy and healthy! In order for us to spend meaningful happy days and tidbits of life together, I'll think and return in good health. Sorry for worrying you!"
