Various news outlets have reported that actor Yoo Ah In was hit by a plastic bottle containing a beverage, believed to be coffee, on his way home after completing his suspect interrogation at the Seoul Central District Court building on May 24 KST.
On this day, Yoo Ah In waited inside the court building while the court came to a decision on whether or not to approve the police's request for an arrest warrant. After receiving the news that the arrest warrant request had been denied, Yoo Ah In gave a brief comment in front of the press, before being escorted to his vehicle for departure.
However, on his way out of the court building, an unidentified civilian appeared and threw a plastic bottle at Yoo Ah In's backside. The uncapped bottle splashed a beverage believed to be coffee on Yoo Ah In's suit jacket, causing the actor to react with surprise and discomfort.
The unidentified civilian is said to have left the scene quickly with his head covered in a hood.
Some netizens reacted by commenting, "That is crossing the line. Don't use violence just because you're angry or discontent", "It's his crime and his charges, it doesn't give anyone else right to act so crudely toward him", "He'll face his punishment in court, so why would someone with no involvement in the matter throw coffee at him", and more.
Meanwhile, Yoo Ah In is currently facing charges for the use of five different illegal drugs since 2020, including marijuana, propofol, ketamine, zolpidem, and cocaine.
