Thai rapper and singer MILLI recently released the music video for her new song "Welcome," which is the opening track for her brand new album titled "Babb Bum Bum." She made a pleasant surprise for K-pop fans when in the song's lyrics, she mentions how covering CL was a stepping stone for her to achieve her dreams of becoming a musician.

At one point in the track, MILLI describes how she used to rehearse CL's music with the lyrics going: "Cover CL music, yes third place oh woah /I rehearsed all the part / After school and before bed / It was not so good / But I loved it. I didn’t quit." She describes the meaning of the song's lyrics in a recent NME interview as a "tell all of my life and my experiences in the song": "I cried when I wrote it. But I love it. It’s like I’m talking to myself."

At the Coachella Festival back in April, MILLI made history by becoming the first Thai solo artist to perform at the festival, appearing as part of 88rising’s Head In The Clouds Forever set. It was also the same night that CL and 2NE1 made their reunion stage for the first time in 6 years. While MILLI was onstage at Coachella, she ate from a bowl of sticky mango rice while performing a song named after the dessert. The performance went viral on Thai social media and in the days following and manifested skyrocketing sales of the dessert in Thailand.

In September, MILLI published her Coachella rehearsal vlog, which showed just how honored she is performing on the same stage as CL. While backstage after meeting her, she tearfully described how she used to cover "Hello Bitches" back in the day, ultimately winning a cover contest with that song.

CL is known to have influenced many idols in the K-pop music industry, and it's amazing to see the impact she had on MILLI's journey to becoming the groundbreaking artist that she is today.
