It still remains uncertain whether BTS's Jin, who turns 30 this December, will be enlisting in mandatory military service this year or not

WIth BTS's Jin approaching the age of 30 years old this coming December, many netizens discussed when he might enlist in South Korea's mandatory military service.

The topic of BTS's enlistment has frequently been debated by both the public and Korean politicians, with media outlets even conducting a survey to see if the public thinks BTS should get an exemption or not. This is because according to the current South Korean law, sports athletes who win a Gold medal at the Olympics or the Asian Games automatically become exempt from the military. However, many continue to debate whether BTS's accomplishments in the global music industry are on par with the Gold medalists, enough to make them exempt from mandatory military service.

Despite the ongoing debates, it still remains uncertain whether the BTS members will receive an exemption from the army or not. Last year, the BTS Military Service Act was passed, allowing pop culture artists to postpone their military enlistment until the age of 30 years old. However, as BTS's oldest member Jin is turning 30 years old on December 4, 2022 and additional amendments increasing the age limit for deferring military service has not yet been passed, it is still unclear as to whether Jin will be enlisting this year or not.

In response, some of the K-netizens' comments included:

"People are so interested in [BTS's personal matters]."

"I hope he can quickly go and return to make many more good songs!"

"I think he'll just end up going to the army."

"Did his warrant even come? Why are people telling him to hurry and go to the army when he didn't even get called yet?"

"He should just go. Then time will go really quickly."

"If he doesn't go, then his image will be ruined anyways. So I think they'll just decide to go [to the army]."

"It'll be a bigger problem if he doesn't go."

"I get that the military service is a really sensitive topic, but I feel like a lot of people are just commenting to hate on them."

"Just to make up for all the unfair hate BTs are getting over this issue, I hope they get exempted."

"It's not like BTS are trying to hold off on purpose, so I don't get why everyone is like 'hurry up and go'. Just let them enlist at their right time."

"I think the media play is so badly done, they can't help but to enlist, Of course, I'm sure they planned on going anyway but still..."

For crying out loud just enlist already. You are a healthy South Korean man. It’s that simple.

BTS not going military will soon make their popularity questionable. More and more people will wonder how big BTS'd be now if the other groups hadn't been into (semi)hiatus because of military service. No need to be a genius to understand that the other groups' hiatus helped BTS to get more visibility, more time in the spotlight on charts, concerts, Radio, TV Shows &News, and other media and even in cultural/political events...so more popularity.

BTS should go military and make things in kpop look fairer!!!
