Big Hit Music released an official statement regarding the legal action taken against BTS's malicious commenters and haters.

On December 29, Big Hit Music uploaded its official statement on Weverse, a fan communication platform. In the statement, Big Hit announced its official position that it had recently filed a criminal complaint against the writers of malicious posts containing defamation, sexual harassment, and malicious slander against its artist group BTS.

Big Hit stated, "We recently submitted a complaint to the investigation agency based on new evidence gathered through reports from fans and self-monitoring. We are taking strong legal action against these actions. In particular, we are taking all possible civil and criminal actions against YouTube and DC Inside accounts that repeat these actions."

Below is the full statement from Big Hit Music:

"Greetings.
This is Big Hit Music.

We are taking periodic legal action against creators of malicious posts such as defamation, insults, sexual harassment, false information, and malicious slander about BTS. We will inform you of the progress in this regard.

We recently submitted a complaint to the investigative agency based on new evidence gathered through reports from fans and self-monitoring. We will take strong legal action against acts that personally attack the artists without any basis and promote malicious rumors. In particular, we are taking all possible civil and criminal actions against YouTube and DC Inside accounts that repeat these actions.

Even if the perpetrators do not use a separate account (usernames /nicknames), they are subject to prosecution, and for the perpetrators who change their usernames periodically, we submitted a complaint by synthesizing the data written on the username used so far through real-time monitoring and account tracking. An additional complaint was filed against the perpetrators who continued to engage in malicious behavior without self-reflection even though they have already faced a lawsuit.

Additional civil damages are being claimed against those who have been convicted of the crimes. Recently, the court ruled a fine of 9 million KRW (~7,593.85 USD) in a claim for damages filed against the perpetrators and the judgment has been finalized. We will collect the amount of compensation until the end, and let those who commit the crime know that they cannot be exempted from responsibility not only criminally but also civilly so that they bear a heavy responsibility for their actions. We will continue to take strict measures against malicious commenters to ensure that malicious acts are not repeated, and we clearly state that there is no settlement or leniency in this process.

We periodically collect reports and information on malicious posts about BTS to take legal action against these malicious commenters. We ask for your continuing interest and active reporting through Big Hit's legal response account (protect@bighitmusic.co.kr).

We are always grateful to the fans for their love and devotion to BTS.

Big Hit Music will make ceaseless efforts to protect the rights and interests of our artists.

thank you
