BTS are global superstars, and ARMYs are the biggest fandom in the world. There is no doubt that the fandom fully supports their favorite band and is protective of them but what many might not notice is that the members as well support and protect their fans. The biggest example of this is BTS’ leader Kim Namjoon aka RM, who is always at the forefront to defend ARMYs.
Here are the top 5 instances where RM defended ARMYs
1. The time ARMYs were called ‘insane’
An interviewer referred to the fandom as insane and asked BTS to comment on it. The members had a blank reaction and did not like the word being used to describe ARMYs.
2. RM changed craziest to wonderful
“What's the most insane or crazy moment with your fans,” was the question, and the leader chose a beautiful moment to share. He spoke about the 2018 LAX airport ‘Purple Ribbon Project’ done by the fans to ensure secure passage for the boys from the airport and said it was a wonderful event.
3. Defending the fandom against Chart Manipulation allegations
ARMYs are extremely powerful when it comes to substantial physical sales and downloads, which contributes to BTS songs getting No.1 on Billboard charts. Some called it chart manipulation, and RM, during an interview with Billboard, defended and said that it is wrong to blame the fans. If there is an issue, then the rules need to be changed.
4. Fans don’t hurt me; I hurt Myself
BTS were asked if they ever got injured or hurt in a rush of fans, and RM said the fans never hurt me. "The fans don't hurt me, I hurt myself."
5. The James Corden issue and apology
One of Corden’s “Jokes” cost him much when he referred to ARMYs as ’15-year old’ girls and BTS’ performance at the UN as ‘unusual.’ He was temporarily demoted from "Papa Mochi" by the fandom. “You have been in some hot water with the ARMYs,” RM asked during their recent appearance at the Late Late show. He did not let Corden away easily and very gracefully addressed the situation.
