BTS’s Jimin sets new records with “Filter” as the highest-charting Korean solo song from a group on MelOn Year-End Top 100 and on Billboard World Digital Song Sales Chart
STAR CONTRIBUTOR
Park Jimin, the real Korea’s IT boy, proved he owns this title as his songs rise above all due to the love of the general listening public in Korea and abroad for his solo songs, especially “Filter.”
BTS member, main dancer, and lead vocalist Jimin set a new record as his solo song “Filter” became the highest-charting Korean solo song from a group in history in both domestic and overall charts of Melon Year-End Top 100. Filter ranked 69th on the Domestic chart, tied with BTS’s “Idol,” while it ranked 77th on the Overall chart, which includes songs from foreign artists.
MelON is a South Korean music platform that counts actual or unique listeners instead of streams. It means that in order for a song to succeed in this music platform, especially in the year-end charts, the song is loved and listened to not only by the fans but the general listening public.
In another news, based on the weekly ranking of international songs by Billboard, also known as the World Digital Song Sales chart, “Filter” while charting for 48 weeks, is once again the highest Korean solo song and Korean b-side as it climbed to the 5th spot of this week’s chart.
Filter, since its release on February 21, 2020, has entered and stayed in this chart. It continues to be the overall (all weeks combined) highest-charting Korean solo song from a boy group's chart’s history and has stayed inside its Top 10 for 38 weeks.
This only proves that Jimin’s popularity, as well as his solo song, goes beyond the borders of South Korea and remains high even on major and highly music markets like that of the USA.
Congratulation park jimin...
