Netizens debated whether Defconn had crossed a line during 'Hangout With Yoo'.

The January 16th episode of the show featured Yoo Jae Suk, Kim Jong Min, and Defconn interviewing Kim Sook and Tak Jae Hoon. Yoo Jae Suk, Tak Jae Hoon, Kim Jong Min, and Kim Sook are all KBS Entertainment Daesang winners (Yoo Jae Suk in 2005 and 2014, Tak Jae Hoon in 2007, Kim Jong Min in 2011 and 2016, and Kim Sook in 2020). Defconn commented, "Daesang is a danger to me." When Kim Sook and Yoo Jae Suk commented that they thought he qualified for it, he said, "I can't handle the weight of the crown," and Kim Jong Min commented, "What's dangerous about it? If you get it, you just accept it gratefully."

Defconn replied, "You didn't earn yours. Cha Tae Hyun just refused to accept one." Yoo Jae Suk said, "You can't say that", and Kim Jong Min responded, "What are you saying! It's my Daesang", and Defconn commented, "It's because we're close." The two laughed about it, but it seems like some viewers thought Defconn had crossed a line.

Viewers posted on the viewer board of the show as well as Defconn's Instagram, demanding that he apologize for crossing a line, and bringing up his past controversies. However, most netizens thought the banter was just banter, especially since Defconn and Kim Jong Min were close friends from '1 Night 2 Days'.
