"Square" (2017) by Yerin Baek and "Sweet Night" (2020) by BTS's V are the only songs not sung in Korean to reach #1 on Melon after the chart reform (Feb 2017).

        Both of these unpromoted tracks have did extremely well on Korean charts and won hearts despite not sung in Korean .

On December 10 at 6 p.m. KST, Baek Yerin had released her new album “Every letter I sent you,” which has total 18 tracks and “Square (2017)” is one of its three title tracks, and Baek Yerin both wrote the lyrics for the English-language song as well as co-composed it. The song debuted #11 in Melon and by 11 p.m. KST on December 10, Baek Yerin had taken over charts by reaching  #1 on all major realtime charts (Melon, Genie, Bugs, Soribada, and FLO).

Yerin Baek remains the first Korean soloist to reach #1 on Melon charts by an English track .

V's "Sweet Night (2020)" was released at 6 p.m kst on 13th March , 2020 and it impressively debuted #1 on Melon chart and also took over other major charts .

V now remains the only male Korean soloist to reach #1 on Melon with a song not sung in Korean .
