On the October 9 broadcast of currently airing JTBC drama 'Beauty Inside', Hwayoung made her first entrance as the role of actress Chae Yu Ri.

Hwayoung's role Chae Yu Ri serves as a direct rival antagonist for the drama's female lead Han Se Gye (played by Seo Hyun Jin). On this episode, Han Se Gye learns that the film director who cast her in her debut role did not cast her for his new film, instead casting Chae Yu Ri. Han Se Gye barges in to see the film director, who happens to be meeting with Chae Yu Ri, and gets on her knees to beg for a chance at his film. Chae Yu Ri snickers evilly watching Han Se Gye on her knees.
Playing a fairly big antagonistic role in 'Beauty Inside', Hwayoung will likely continue to appear frequently in the drama. This marks Hwayoung's first small-screen production return since her dating violence controversy with entertainer LJ.

Some viewers pointed out that controversies aside, Hwayoung portrayed her role perfectly: "Hwayoung is really good at those kinds of nasty characters, isn't she?
