1. Paul Kim
A singer and rapper from Saratoga, California, Paul Kim is a modern artist that was a contestant on Season 6 of American Idol and made it to the top 24 semi-finalists. He has over 90,000 subscribers on YouTube and has done collaborations with David So, Clara C, and Jason Chen. Some of his most popular videos are G-Dragon's "That XX" with David So and Taeyang's "I Need a Girl" with David So. Paul Kim is known to put his own spin on these songs and make it his own.
2. Yoon Mi Rae
Also known as Natasha Shanta Reid, Yoon Mi Rae is an American born South Korean rapper and singer and is known as one of the most talented and influential female rappers in Korea. She was born in Fort Hood, Texas to a South Korean mother and African American father. A lot of her music discusses her mixed heritage and the discrimination she faced growing up in South Korea. She's currently part of MFBTY with her husband, Tiger JK, and rapper Bizzy. She and her husband are advocates against child abuse and discrimination and has been commended by South Korea's Ministry of Health and Welfare for her work against child abuse.
3. Rekstizzy
Rekstizzy or David Lee is a developing New York rapper. Rek and Richard Lee aka Lyricks use music as a way to carve out their own place in society through artistic expression. They also are featured on "Bad Rap" a documentary directed by Salima Koroma focused on the lives of Korean American hip-hop artists Dumbfoundead, Awkwafina, Rekstizzy, and Lyricks and their journey breaking into the American hip hop industry.
4. Awkwafina
Also known as Nora Lum, Awkwafina is a rapper, comedian, television personality, television host, and actress from Forest Hills, Queens. Awkwafina is Chinese and Korean American and uses art as a way to connect with her Asian heritage and poke fun at Asian stereotypes. She has been featured on 'Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising', 'Dude', 'Storks', 'Ocean's Trilogy: Ocean's 8', and will be in 'Crazy Rich Asians'. She also is an advocate for female directors, against Asian stereotypes in media, and against sexual harassment. One of her most popular songs is "My Vag" in response to Mickey Avalon's "My Dick."
5. Tiger JK
Tiger JK was born in Seoul, South Korea, but moved to the United States and spent the majority of his youth in Los Angeles California where he was one of the few Korean American students. Tiger JK witnessed the violence between Korean Americans and African Americans during the 1992 Los Angeles Riots leading to his usage of hip hop as a dialogue. Tiger JK has worked with various prominent rappers like Yoon Mi Rae, Leessang, Dumbfoundead, Bambu, and Fiestar.
6. Run River North
An indie folk-rock Korean American band formed in Los Angeles Koreatown, Run River North uses their music to explore the immigrant experience their parents faced.The group currently consists of Alex Hwang (lead vocals and guitar), Daniel Chae (guitar), Sally Kang (keyboards), and Abe Kim (drums touring member).
7. Jennifer Chung
Jennifer Chung is an uberly talented Korean American singer. Beginning her YouTube career in 2007, Jennifer embarked on a new adventure to share her passion for music around the world, which led to the release of her first full album in 2011 titled '4 years & counting...' It's been 7 years and Jennifer recently unleashed a new album to the world.
8. David Choi
A YouTuber based in Los Angeles, David Choi's songs have been heard on NBC, FOX, VH1, MTV,, Travel Channel, Disney, Food Network, and much more.He has over 900,000 subscribers and has worked with various popular idols such as Wong Fu Productions, Dumbfoundead, Kevin Wu, and more.
9. JunCurryAhn
Also known as Jun Sung Ahn, a Korean American musician, YouTube video producer and talented violinist. Ahn was born in South Korea and moved to West Windsor, New Jersey where he picked up classical violin and performed in competitions and recitals. Since then his talents bloomed and he became involved in things like KCON LA and NY as well as YouTube Fanfest.
10. Dumbfoundead
Also known as Jonathan Edgar Park, Dumbfoundead is an Argentine American singer of Korean descent born in Buenos Aires Argentina. Growing up in Koreatown in Los Angeles, Park was able to explore his Korean descent and hip-hop, eventually creating a pathway to express his identity through music. He became well-known after killing his opposition in the battle rap scene. Dumbfoundead has transitioned from a battle rapper into a more socially conscious rapper. He has worked with artists like Epik High, Bambu, Jay Park, and Anderson Paak.
11. Clara C
Born to Korean born parents in Northridge, California, Clara is a YouTube artist that won various talent competitions such as Los Angeles' Kollaboration 10, KAC Media Juice Night, and ISA 2009. Clara C's style is very diverse and unique because it takes on a lot of different sounds. Clara also has worked with various artists like Ross Ching, Kina Grannis, and Davis Choi.
