According to an exclusive report on November 29, EXO's Lay has been chosen to represent the nation's producers of China on the Chinese version of 'Produce 101'.

Previously, the upcoming Chinese show titled 'Model Idol Trainee' (formerly 'Idol Evolutionism') stirred up controversy for plagiarizing Mnet's 'Produce 101' without taking proper licensing and purchasing measures. If the reports are true, Lay will now be in the same role that Jang Geun Suk and BoA stood in during 'Produce 101' season 1 and season 2.
'Model Idol Trainee', which decided to change its show title with its approaching premiere date, consists of 111 male trainees competing to debut in a boy group, hand chosen by the nation. It will air some time in January of 2018.
