Lee Kyung Kyu has proved once again that he is the "godfather" of entertainment, with 'Laws of the Jungle' recorded an impressive streak in ratings after his appearance.

According to Nielsen Korea, the first half of the broadcast earned 13.5% in viewership ratings, then shot up in the latter half to 16.1%.

This is the highest recorded rating for 'Laws of the Jungle's New Zealand special. The currently airing New Zealand season also features Soyu, Microdot, Kim Hwan, and Lee Jae Yoon.

Actually, the ratings didn't jump up very much. The ratings were already rising throughout the New Zealand episodes at a similar rate without LKK's appearance.

I seriously do not understand why Koreans like this guy so much. I've watched Korean varieties religiously for 4 years now. Not ONCE have I laughed because of this guy. not ONCE. He is just really bad... or no, not even bad, he's just nothing. He's a filler, he's kinda like keeping the radio on just to have background noise.

Kang_Saena _Jarhon Sunday, July 2, 2017

That's understandable. Maybe it's because you don't understand Korean comedy. After all, it is quite different from its western counterparts.

_Jarhon Kang_Saena Sunday, July 2, 2017

No its not. THere's 100 comedians who are hilarious. And you might have figured it from the fact that I said I watch variety shows religiously for years now.... he just isn't talented or funny. What he has is lemmings mentality. In korea if just majority decides to believe in something, then that becomes reality. They're trend followers. He's been titled grandfather of variety for the past decade with almost nothing to prove it anymore, but people just blindly follow it.. its annoying.

thats how life works.. you wont like everything other people like, and the other way.. sometimes i wonder how in hell Trump did win the election. how does som many people vote for him.. but thats how it is, some people may like what you dont like.. even if you dont understand HOW!!!! i looove seeing Lee Kyung Kyu on any show. for me he is just fuccking hilarious! for you it may be obvious he is nothing, but in my eyes(and for a looot of koreans) he just funny.

mypcy _Jarhon Sunday, July 2, 2017

Omg you're so right at Korean's being "trend followers." I too have been following korean variety shows for at least five years now and even though I do understand korean's hype about the guy but I don't understand his comedy. You are also right on his title "grandfather of variety," which in my opnion jut means that he's been in the industry for a very long time.

denn1sable _Jarhon Sunday, July 2, 2017

ikr. i've also been following k variety shows but beside not being funny, he's annoying when hes' on shows. the regular cast not only gives him too much deference but he also bullies them. if not for soyu and microdot, i wouldn't be watching these eps.

ValkryiaSkyfall _Jarhon Sunday, July 2, 2017

So as someone who watches K-varieties "religiously" did you watch Let's Eat Dinner Together or his appearance in Knowing Brother?

BigBangVIP_NYC _Jarhon Sunday, July 2, 2017

If you are in the minority saying he's not talented or funny and especially you don't live in SK and I'll assume you're not SK then maybe you should think that there is just something you are not getting about SK comedy. I watched a lot of variety as well and I'll be honest sometimes as an outsider I don't get the inside joke.

_Jarhon ValkryiaSkyfall Sunday, July 2, 2017

Yes and he was regular on my little television. and he was BORING. like horribly boring everytime. The only time "he" is funny is when others make it funny by mocking how rigid and outdated he is. And then he stands there not knowing what to do.. cause he REALLY doesnt know, and others have to save the situation.

Ibrahimovic _Jarhon Monday, July 3, 2017

No wonder... you only watched K variety show for 4 years... but this guy has been in this industry for 36 years.... and fyi every single comedian that can makes you laugh highly respect this guy... every single one... so no wonder you don't understand why koreans really like and respect this guy...

ibra mypcy Monday, July 3, 2017

no, he's 9 times daesang winner,, he's absolute legend in sk. and fyi He is Yoo jae suk role models. and like Yoo jaesuk, he's korean nation MC too and yes in south korea lot people likes him,, butt you're not alone,, in south korea there is a lot of hater for this guy too
