Singer Kim Tae Won made a guest appearance on 'My Daughter's Men', where he publicly announced his approval of his daughter's boyfriend.

The broadcast showed the singer's first encounter with his daughter's British boyfriend, Josh. The approval came after Josh played the guitar, showcasing his playing abilities. Initially, Kim Tae Won mistook Josh for using his guitar bag as a prop, assuming his daughter's boyfriend did not know how to play the instrument.

Kim Tae Won stated, "Unlike his age, his guitar skills are very smooth. At that age it's a time for experiencing different instrumental ways of playing the guitar, but Josh has passed that stage. Rather than lazing around every day it's better to be out and about." In response, MC Lee Soo Geun stated, "Then shouldn't you be inviting Josh over to your home?" bringing laughter to the set.

'My Daughter's Men' is a variety program that allows fathers to delve into their daughter's love lives. 'My Daughter's Men' airs on E Channel every Saturday.

Your country has it's cultures and so does South Korea, your parents play a big role in your life regardless of age so I hope people can respect that.

mypcy Saturday, June 17, 2017

C'mon people. At least the dude approved the boyfriend, isn't that all thats good? Man, even if he was approved or not, people will stir up shit. I can't even imagine how ppl will react or say if he's disapproved lol.

ThatsWhatsup mypcy Saturday, June 17, 2017

Exactly. People just WANT to be offended these days.

More good Korean values in action the father oversees their children's love lives. Don't tell me South Korean doesn't have their own style of accepted "propaganda".

Maggie Saturday, June 17, 2017

I'm sorry. But no Dad should be allowed to APPROVE or DISAPPROVE their daughter's choice of love life. It's really none of their business. The dads don't own their daughters' lives if they are adults.

ThatsWhatsup Maggie Saturday, June 17, 2017

I get what you're saying, but as a father myself, I certainly am allowed to approve or disapprove. Now with that said, she has free will.

BakaKaori ThatsWhatsup Saturday, June 17, 2017

You are allowed to have your opinions of who your daughter dates and express them. But if your daughter is an adult you don't have the right to give or take away her permission to date.

Maggie ThatsWhatsup Saturday, June 17, 2017

That's my point. But the word "approve" implies you as father has some says in daughter's love lives, which I disagree. The daughter doesn't owe the father any of her life choice.

mypcy Maggie Saturday, June 17, 2017

It's cultural differences. There's a lot to talk about but just gonna leave it there.

ThatsWhatsup Maggie Saturday, June 17, 2017

Wrong. Approval literally implies agreeing. We never spoke of permission, neither did the guy in the video. You're reading way too much into this. I can certainly disapprove of my daughter dating a jobless, lazy deadbeat. Again though, she has free will, and I have no intentions of imposing upon that. Am I being clear?

ThatsWhatsup BakaKaori Saturday, June 17, 2017

Wrong. I am allowed to approve or disapprove, which are also forms of expression. You are tossing the word "permission" in here. If you don't know the different between allowing and approval, that's where your issue begins.

Maggie ThatsWhatsup Saturday, June 17, 2017

To me, the word "approve" and "agree" are different. The word "approve" implies authority and power. These two words don't work interchangeably. At least you realize that legally the father has no say. Some parents claim ownership over their children's lives, doesn't matter how old they already are. That's just wrong.

ThatsWhatsup Maggie Saturday, June 17, 2017

"Approve" implies authority and power, except it doesn't when the word literally means agreeing. I still think you're reading too far into a simple statement. A bit SJW-like, but I digress. I am a parent who claims ownership and responsibility over my child's life until she either proves she can handle it on her own, or is 18. I'm sure this makes sense to you.

Maggie ThatsWhatsup Saturday, June 17, 2017

I understand from the parents' point of view. But it doesn't mean it's fair to impose such sense of ownership over the child from the child's point of view when he/she is over 18. Of course it's a different story if the child wants to voluntarily seek approval from their parents, but it's not mandatory.

When in doubt, argue a point nobody ever mentioned. Take care. lol

Longan_Lychee Saturday, June 17, 2017

This show is so.. unnecessary... I would never want my dad to pry on my love life. But it’s cool that Kim Tae Won accepts his daughters non-Korean boyfriend. I wonder if he would have accepted him if he was a black or a brown man though...

Liyah_sun Longan_Lychee Saturday, June 17, 2017

I wanted to put up a comment like this but you have these ppl who refuse to believe racism exists &' I ain't feel like arguing with anybody's today lol but idk I highly doubt he would've accepted her significant other being anything else but white 🤷🏽‍♀️

Longan_Lychee Liyah_sun Saturday, June 17, 2017

Some East-Asian parents even encourage their kids to marry a straight white spouse.. they would disown especially their daughters, if they started dating black guys. I know it because I’ve seen and heard this from my east asian friends...

Liyah_sun Longan_Lychee Saturday, June 17, 2017

Smh white supermacy is everywhere it's like you can't escape it' and you would expect the white supermacy to only come from white ppl but sadly no a lot of races have jumped on that band wagon

teuksora Saturday, June 17, 2017

...why does this show exist tho...why would people create a show where a dad gets to watch his daughter's love life? Though I know they probably needed the daughter's consent to do this, I'm still confused as to why someone thought it would be a good idea. Seems unhealthy imo
