SBS’s new Friday-Saturday drama 'The Mantis: Original Sin,' premiering on September 5, released its second teaser video on August 19.
While the first teaser focused on Go Hyun Jung and Jang Dong Yoon’s shocking transformations, the second teaser highlights the tangled emotions between their characters, the major incident of copycat murders, and the gripping intensity of their joint investigation, raising viewers’ expectations.
'The Mantis: Original Sin' is a high-density crime thriller set more than 20 years after the capture of the brutal serial killer known as "The Mantis." When a copycat murder arises, a detective is forced into an unexpected joint investigation with his mother - the very "Mantis" he has hated his entire life. With its unique premise of a serial killer mother and detective son working together, the drama promises a tightly woven and shocking story.

Particularly drawing attention is the meeting of Go Hyun Jung, who has consistently delivered perfect immersion into her roles, and rising star Jang Dong Yoon. Go Hyun Jung plays Jung Yi Shin, the infamous serial killer called "The Mantis," while Jang Dong Yoon takes on the role of detective Cha Soo Yeol, who must collaborate with the mother he has despised his entire life. Anticipation is already high for the synergy between the two actors, known for both strong acting skills and star power.
The second teaser opens with a powerful shot of Jang Dong Yoon. As police officer Choi Jong Ho (Jo Sung Ha) says, "Jung Yi Shin agreed to help with this case," the video reveals that a crime mimicking her murders from 23 years ago has taken place - hinting at Jung Yi Shin’s involvement. Cha Soo Yeol’s angry outburst, "You want me to meet her?" intensifies the tension and stirs curiosity about his relationship with Jung Yi Shin as their investigation unfolds.
The teaser then shows the confrontation between serial killer mother Jung Yi Shin and detective son Cha Soo Yeol. When Soo Yeol asks, "Wasn’t killing five people enough for you?" I Shin retorts, "Even if the world knows who I am, should I stay by your side?" taunting him further.

In the latter part, the two face each other in a mysterious location. With a chilling expression, Jung I Shin says to her son, "So we finally meet like this. Hello?" As their faces flash and overlap, their uncanny resemblance heightens the suspense to its peak.
The teaser has already stirred netizens’ curiosity about how this unusual joint investigation will unfold.
Netizens responded, "As expected of Go Hyun Jung," "She dominates with just a few lines," "Wow, they really do look alike," "I’m so excited for this," "I'm going to definite watch every broadcast," "They’re airing this on a public channel?" and "This is insane."
Even within its short 42-second runtime, 'The Mantis: Original Sin' powerfully conveys its characters and storyline. The new SBS Friday-Saturday drama 'The Mantis: Original Sin' premieres on September 5 at 9:50 PM.
