The group returned with new album 'New Kids' consisting of two title tracks ''B-Day'' and ''Bling Bling''. Immediately after release, iKON did manage to top real-time search on Olleh Music, as well as other music charts and internet portals. However, music chart rankings of their new tracks quickly plummeted down. As of May 24 (2 p.m. KST), ''Bling Bling'' and ''B-Day'' ranked 66th and 86th, respectively.

Ranking within the top 100 is considered a success and an honor considering numerous idol groups and singers in the market today. However, iKON's rankings are perceived as being extremely low or even a ''failure'' because the group is under YG Entertainment; a digital ranking powerhouse and one of the BIG3 agencies of South Korea.
The poor results of iKON are seen as an even bigger failure due to the success of fellow YG artists who made their comeback around the same period.
In April, iKON's brother group WINNER topped charts with ''Really Really'' and ''Fool'' while Psy achieved all-kills with ''I Luv It''' and ''New Face'' earlier this month.
Many netizens agreed with the report and named iKON as the only group to disappoint in YG Entertainment. Comments stated, "It's not that they're doing bad for a YG group. They're just a failure in general. They are ranking lower than Seventeen who made their comeback on the same day. This is serious", "They're seriously the biggest failure in YG history...", "I'm also shocked that there are 7 members. It was more like a unit of Bobby and B.I. What are the other 5 doing?", "Their songs are just not good", "Honestly, if they weren't under YG, they'll already be out of the charts."

That's just downright mean. Their comments are too cruel. Give these boys a break. They have enough pressure as it is. Their time will come soon. I love their songs and I trust they'll find success in the future.

It's shocking for me to hear that people are calling them a failure. I enjoy their comeback songs. I don't think that they are a failure. :(

Honestly, I didn't even know that IKON had a comeback? I think it's definitely due to their long hiatus and lack of promotions. It's not really the group itself that's a failure but more the fact that YG doesn't really promote his idols too well. Also, I don't really think it's fair to compare a group/person's success to their company? Being apart of a big/small company doesn't automatically equate to success/failure.

When I first saw this article, I was like "it's because they're never in Korea" and yup there it is. I'd say that's the number #1 reason.

the society is so cruel, posting mean comments without thinking of fans, ikon members and the company feelings... honestly i agree that they should have promote more on korea but please before posting hate comments think of other people feeling first, although i am not a ikon fan but i would say those people that write those hates are so selfish and immature btw i love their song bling bling though, ikon fighting

Its sad they are below the popularity they should have by now (same goes for winner) and I'm worried YG will give up on them now that he has a new jewel.

I agree on more activities and more time promoting in Korea, but it's too unfair to call it failure. IKON don't care about being no.1 on Chart they just want people to enjoy their music. Japan is more active in promoting IKON..

I think its the timing and promotion,if we talking about hip hop you know DFD and DPR LIVE came out around that time with their music. (As much as I like YG groups, I was more hyped for DFD compared to Ikon). Anyways Ikon are still finding their music direction, so the next album could be something to look forward for.
