WONDER GIRLS -- DRAW ME
What should be a glorious occasion, the Wonder Girls' 10th anniversary, is marred by the news that they have broken up. The legendary girl group left us with a single tune, "Draw Me." This is the last time we will hear from them as a unit unless, of course, there is a reunion in the distant future. Through the years, members have come and go, and they've had a total of seven members. However, only the four current ones can be heard on the track. So far, there's no sign of an MV, either.
Appropriately we get a near-ballad, a slow-burn soft pop number. The girls handle it skillfully, as usual, their voices tinged with longing and regret. There's an element of sweetness in the chorus as well, almost a hope for a better someday. Yenny and Sunmi convey that sentiment well. Lim and Yubin tackle the main verses, and the husky-voiced songstresses definitely deliver. What was particularly poignant was the line, "draw me and miss me just a little bit." Sorry, it'll be more than just a little bit.

The members have posted on Instagram and social media, leaving goodbye messages. Yenny posted ahead of the bunch, leaving a heartfelt message to fans on her Instagram. Yubin and Hyerim are remaining with JYP, but Sunmi and Yenny are taking off.
Throughout their decade-long career, they've crossed genres to give us solid dance hits "Like This" and "Like Money," and the Motown-inspired "Nobody." They also had a great run once they came back from a two-year hiatus. Now they've completed that run, and we have to say goodbye and thank them for being so wonderful. But I refuse to be sad. We have a significant body of work to listen and reminisce to. And when their songs fill your ears, just try to avoid smiling. This is a definitely a good tune for that. Wonder Girls, you'll be gone but never forgotten.
