MBC will be taking at least 2 billion KRW (approximately 1.7 million USD) of losses, while viewers are forced to take a break from hit variety show 'Infinity Challenge'.

With 'Infinity Challenge' on a hiatus since January 28, the number of ads that were sold between 6:25 PM and 8PM on the channel has dropped over 50%.

For every episode of 'Infinity Challenge', there are 40 CFs attached to the show. A weekend prime time ad slot costs 13.5 million KRW (approximately 12,000 USD) for the 15 second slot, so each episode brings in about 540 million KRW (approximately 480,000 USD).

Until 'Infinity Challenge' airs again, experts estimate the situation will stay the same if not worsen, so there will be at the very least 2 billion KRW in losses of ad revenue.

Why the show went on hiatus?

Bobby_Han Wednesday, February 8, 2017

Well, they deserve the break. Comparing to RM is a bit unjust. RM just a 6 y/o prog while IC have been more than 10 yr and with a number of vet MCs compared to RM with YJS. To RM fans, im not saying other members are not MC but the only one who have the experiece to start a new prog and strive to success was only YJS. Take a nice break IC.

holy shit... well but this is a well-deserved rest for them. They haven't had a vacation like this from the show for 10 years; MBC owes them that much, considering how much money they've made for the station so far

these weekends without mudo are killing me~ can't wait for them to come back <3

_Jarhon Wednesday, February 8, 2017

knyhll cococcchanel Wednesday, February 8, 2017

it already is ....

cococcchanel knyhll Wednesday, February 8, 2017

I only missed that detail, no biggie.

MissBBLover cococcchanel Wednesday, February 8, 2017

7 weeks 5 more weeks to go already miss them

cococcchanel MissBBLover Wednesday, February 8, 2017

Thank you for the information! It's too bad. Luckily, though, it's only a hiatus, not a cancelation :)

knyhll cococcchanel Wednesday, February 8, 2017

it's not even a hiatus... because up until now.. I think they are filming ... PD Tae Ho wanted that they catch up with the filming, editing, and broadcasting... because you see.. they film on Thursday.. and have to broadcast it on Saturdays... I think the PDs is getting rid of the pressure by filiming ahead.. while saying it is on hiatus.. :)

It's rather smart, minimising the stress and pressure to deliver entertainment with quality while planning ahead.

thefabcat92 Wednesday, February 8, 2017

that is a lot!

ChickNut Wednesday, February 8, 2017

Why did they take a break?

knyhll ChickNut Wednesday, February 8, 2017

Ligoogoo knyhll Wednesday, February 8, 2017

Catch up on what.?

may1889 ChickNut Wednesday, February 8, 2017

Because they want to take a break and take Some time to think of New ideas

taichou_san Wednesday, February 8, 2017

well the impact for a famous variety show is real...lucky sbs continue the running man...if not......

MissBBLover taichou_san Wednesday, February 8, 2017

Running man is not that famous any more in Korea ,IC is the number one show in Korea beating every other shows Korean love the show now running man is like 6/7 ratings in korea is like lowest ever

MooMooLux MissBBLover Wednesday, February 8, 2017

Running man never been a top variety on korea since 2014, RM is more popular internationally and grossing more money on broadcasting rights on other countries etc

Euntae taichou_san Wednesday, February 8, 2017

That's the same reason why SBS probably kept RM. They don't have an alternative even if RM's ratings is low.

NSQ MooMooLux Wednesday, February 8, 2017

I guess tastes of variety show is different between Korean and international fans. Many Korean prefer IC, but it's too boring. I prefer RM instead. All of us have very different likings :D
