Idols who officially left singing to act
It's not unusual, especially nowadays, for an idol to leave an active group or for a singer to put aside that career to act. While a lot of idols and singers continue both activities at the same time, like Rain or Siwan, many officially leave to pursue and focus on only an acting career. Those who have left the world of singing to dabble in the art of acting are listed below - and only those who left an active group or singing career are included (meaning those who started acting after the disbandment of the group like Hwang Jung Eum, Seo Hyun Jin, Jeon Hye Bin, and Oh Yeon Seo were not counted). See which ones went from singer to actor on the list!

Hoping here that GOO HARA can find a decent Acting Role for her 'transition.' Seems like KEY EAST Agency affiliation is a *desired* situation. But also, KEY EAST Agency seems to represent a LOT of those who are listed here in this AKP ARTICLE, as past K-pop Idols. NO IDEA how that all works out in the end. But the KARA5 members did pretty *well* financially from their K-pop activities. So, probably, they can afford to be patient in waiting for *good* Acting Roles to present themselves. SULLI supposedly has this Movie titled "REAL" that is due out in 2017. With some sort of 'hot' type bedroom scene involved? Have NOT heard anything much lately on that with SULLI though either.

I could wish that the past KARA5 members (GYURI, HARA, SEUNGYEON) would do more K-pop Music together. I did like GYURI's work with her "THE AIRPORT" backup band. NO IDEA if "THE AIRPORT" is still active and together now. NOT sure if GOO HARA is really that interested in K-pop Music activity anymore. Which, KARA5 did that for a LONG time. So, that a member of KARA5 has had 'enough' of K-pop Music would not surprise me.

This time next year you can add Yuri, Sooyoung and YoonA to the list.

Chaeyoung pink_oracle Thursday, October 6, 2016

But they didn't leave Girls Generation

pink_oracle Chaeyoung Thursday, October 6, 2016

Their contracts expire next summer, I'm doubtful the dancing line will renew.

SNSD is fairly UNIQUE, in that there is a LOT of MONEY involved (INCOME for the members) with keeping SNSD going. I suspect that you might see LESS 'comebacks' over time. NOT sure that any SNSD member would quit SNSD over Acting Roles options though. Now, IF an SNSD member got MARRIED, *that* would be *more* of a reason to leave SNSD as I see it. But even that 'Romantic Relationship' (quasi-MARRIAGE?) aspect could be 'hidden' from SNSD Fans, to some extent. Maybe it already is. Now, a PREGNANCY, *that* would be even MORE reason for a member to openly leave SNSD. Having said all of that, YOU may be FAR MORE CORRECT in your views than I suspect it ... :-) ... I thought that KARA4 would go for another two years with the 'Core3' members re-signing with DSP Agency. So, what do I know? ... ;-) ... But again, with SNSD, the MONEY INCOME of being a member of SNSD is rather IMPRESSIVE. And I do NOT really see the SNSD 'Soshi' Fan Base to be 'fading' in numbers that much either. The SNSD general concept, *seems* like it could work into the Age 30-35 range; IF they want to do it that long. Though, it *seems* like around 7 YEARS is a pretty LONG RUN for a female K-pop Group. And SNSD is up to close to 10 YEARS active now. NOT looking to offend any SONES by what I said it here.

I think Sunny, Hyoyeon, Yuri and Sooyoung are extremely restricted in their careers as SNSD members. SM is never going to let them do anything more musically then comebacks and maybe SMstation releases. And they can can only take acting gigs and promotions that are the right 'fit' for the GG image. After 9 years I personally would feel incredibly frustrated. Especially seeing TTS getting to experience all the excitement of debuting all over again and getting all that extra effort put into their promotions. Not to mention looking over at everything Jessica has been able to do the past 2 years. They must be feeling fish in a bowel syndrome by now.

It *may* be though, that the members of SNSD are doing, more or less, what they *want* to do it. Another knowledgeable AKP user here stated that SUNNY has *physical* CHRONIC knee problems. Really, SNSD membership is a *very* nice and SIZEABLE PAYCHECK situation. Just to do the 'comebacks' as needed. I am suggesting that some of the SNSD members do NOT care that much to do SOLO work. Maybe they PREFER to just do what is needed to keep SNSD going; and that is enough for them. Along with the NICE SIZED PAYCHECK ... ;-)

Are we having deja vu here? lol

The U.K Rock Music Group, The ROLLING STONES, did just release their first NEW ALBUM in like 10 years. It turned out to be 'COVERS' of 'Blues Songs' that had already been done by other musicians originally. Which, you wonder if SNSD, after 10 YEARS ACTIVE, is becoming almost a 'COVER' of themselves. Having said that, IF their SOSHI FAN BASE *likes* that, and is willing to PAY ($$$$) for that ; then NO REASON for SNSD to stop performing. USA Female SOLO performer CHER was *very* popular, working into her AGE 50s range. MAYBE SNSD can do that too. It is NOT an 'impossible' notion as I see it. It all depends on what the SONES are willing to support in a MONEY sense. This would be a URL about (USA) CHER --> ... https://en. wikipedia. org/wiki/Cher

I still feel even now they would be bored and frustrated by the lack of creative control over their careers. They don't have the same popularity level as YoonA/TTS and therefore cannot negotiate with the label in the same way. Hell Jessica was a lead singer and pretty popular member and even she was 'disposable'. And Korean's are culturally know to settle for safe jobs. They like to push themselves as far as they can go,

krell pink_oracle Friday, October 7, 2016

Okay ; but again, I remain NOT that convinced that ALL of the SNSD members are that 'driven' about their K-pop careers at this point. Again, they have a LOT of MONEY now, after almost 10 Years of activity.

I look forward to us having this discussion again in another couple of months. ; )

Tiny-G didn't disband, from what I know they are under a hiatus.

huggi CreepyGuurl Saturday, January 28, 2017

Their label never confirmed it but they are basically disbanded. Mint's solo was under a new label, they no longer have an official page on the company website, and Dohee is the only Tiny-G member to show up in their "management" section (aka, the singers/actors signed under them).

CreepyGuurl huggi Saturday, February 4, 2017

I see, I just read about that a few days ago. Thanks for the detailed reply :)
