how come in the kpop industry and I have been involved for years but will never understand it, they promote one song for like 3 weeks or couple months or whatever and then they end promotions and we don't hear from them again until like 6 months later to 2 years later whatever it may be. where as here in America artist might put out and sing live or make music videos for like 3 or so songs on there albums.

I think it's just a different way of cost-allocaiton: because there is such a heavy strain on the artists per promotion round (think of it: each week of promotion includes at least 6 live performance at the standard Music Programs alone (Tue - Sun) then if you consider preparations for each like dressing room and make-up + recording and then also include other promotional performances and variety appearances it, artists must be quickly exhausted!) And because of this I think it is almost only possible for artists to only actively promote the lead single - which is also often the only one charting really high - relating to album sales and awards. So it's just a different strategy?
