What are shorties?

mr_a Tuesday, August 23, 2016

Lifted is so bad. In America all we have is this kind of nonsense. Please return to 2ne1

xhecthor Monday, August 22, 2016

This is the kind of Sh*t I hate from american music. That's why I like more K-Pop. YG just bring back 2NE1 and forget about America.

I love CL and 2ne1 and I'm glad she wants to make in here in the U.S. I am disappointed in the video. I can't stand the way the video portrays life in the hood and black people. SMH its annoying enough when I see my OWN people do it. (and before I get the feedback  [in my best will smith voice lol]. "In west Philadelphia born and raised" ...aka the hood) but it makes me cringe when I think of the Blackjacks around the world who may or may not have any inkling of what black people are like or the inner city and then they see this video. with over 2million views. Everybody's not drinking and smoking and grinding up on people and there are all kinds of people in the hood white black asian hispanic etc. Its like watching a weird exaggerated caricature to me.  I just wish she would have chosen a different approach that celebrated who SHE is, like she did in  her  Korean solo debut.  But I hope she does well because I think she has A LOT of talent.

Great song, great video... The song sounds original (it is like nothing you've heard before) and so does the video.I would love to see this promoted in English speaking countries so it can bring more attention to the large pool of artistic talent that South Korea is producing right now.

No hate on CL but did YG seriously listened to this song and thought "THIS WILL BE A HIT IN AMERICA! SO UNIQUE! SO CREATIVE!" and made an awful video along with it?

BlackjackOneLove Saturday, August 20, 2016

It's been two days and I still can't stop listening to the song, and the video is so cool and well done, too. People say this isn't her style, but I've only been a fan of her for a little over half a year, and I can definitely say I wasn't surprised at the style, IT IS her. I'm really proud of CL, and I hope America will see her as the great and multitalented artist she is. She is a hell of a lot better than the so called "artists" we hear on the radio in the US today.

I love you CL!!! :* So proud of you! I loved this song the first time I heard, not with the MV. Its a chill music which is so different from your other solo's, and itssss AWWWWEEESOMMMEEE! I love you! :-*

to be brutally honest, i find it sad tho :/ it can even be considered as a flop, i mean taeyeon's I mv hit 2.4m views in a day and she didnt even target a large market like cl did. im not saying cl or taeyeon is better than each other, what i'd like to point is that cl is targeting a larger market and if she wants to consider this a success, she's supposed to at least surpass those other k-artists who targeted a smaller market than her. so im sorry CL, the song is fine but its kinda a flop maybe its the 'management' team(?) who needs to step up their game

bangeryun94 gwaltz Saturday, August 20, 2016

Why does she have to surpass other k artists? This isn't a Korean song. It's fairly obvious that she's not targeting a Korean audience. Your observation is a bit skewed but okey dokey

gwaltz bangeryun94 Saturday, August 20, 2016

Exactly, she's not only targeting the Korean audience. she's targeting a larger audience like logically, it means that the number of the audience must be a lot more than the ONLY korean audience like DUHHH. so meaning, her single is a flop because the number of audience she gained is lower than the other k-artists' number of audience who ONLY targeting the korean audience. this may sound harsh or whatever you call it but as much as i like CL and the song, im sorry to say that her english singles havent been doing that well so far, maybe next time.

la_noir gwaltz Saturday, August 20, 2016

I think what @Bangeryun94 meant that CL is a well known artist in korea however it is not the same in the USA ->her main target now. So, comparing her to Taeyeon who is well known in Korea and targeted the korean audience might be irrelevant. Comparing both of their singles that is targeted in Korea is relevant. I dont even think this mv will be showned in Korea. Since Asian artist have hard time to debut in the USA I think this is a major step. I have one artis from my country who keep saying an international debut but nowhere to be seen. if you want to compare I think you can compare it to Rain or Seven or maybe BoA. However, it is only a day or two so let see what happen.

cherryvine gwaltz Saturday, August 20, 2016

Just because CL targeted a larger platform for her album does not mean she'll be famous or accept that easily. CL basically is a newbie in america and "Lifted" is a good way to start off. If other kpop artists try to go international, with the talent they have, thats what ill call a flop. CL collaborated with Teddy in making this song , its very unlike kpop idols, since most of themcannot even compose their own songs or even co-produce it.You say other korean artists got lot more audience but are you sure? Because if youre basing it on youtube views then prove us from which countries visited the videos most? Because even if those other artists got lots of view counts but if 90% of them are from korea or some parts of asia then its an invalid argument, theyre only famous in their own country. Its alright if you dont like the song :) Nobody can please everybody. She's got non supporters, but definitely more supporters and growing. :)

gwaltz la_noir Saturday, August 20, 2016

ah right, now i understand. maybe i expected way way way too high so im sorry my mistake, thank you for straighten things out :)

gwaltz cherryvine Saturday, August 20, 2016

thats not what i meant by my point actually. and i didnt say i like the song anyway but im sorry, its been straightened out by @la_noir so just forget what i said :)

cherryvine gwaltz Saturday, August 20, 2016

its alright, good thing you got it love :) and give her another chance, i think shell be releasing her other songs as well, mybe by then you can deliberate :)

gwaltz cherryvine Saturday, August 20, 2016

im sorry typo there. what i wanted to say is "i didnt say i dislike the song" hehe and yeah ofc i cant wait for her other new releases :)

bangeryun94 gwaltz Saturday, August 20, 2016

Your second comment makes absolutely no sense to me at all. I'll just make the point I was trying to make originally. She isn't trying to target ANY Korean audience.
