Hyun Wook plants one on Se Na

RECAP

So Hyun Wook told her not to do anything with anyone at ANA, and Se Na asked if that included him. In this episode, he tells her that she has to do things with him because there are no trainees that don't interact with the CEO. Later, at the retreat, Hyun Wook's stepmom gets a call from her private investigator, who sends a picture of her husband meeting another woman. She goes back to Seoul, gives back his ring, and leaves him. Se Na gets another visit from Shi Woo, and this time accepts his gift and firmly friend-zones him.

The next day, Shi Woo and ANA are preparing for his debut. Hyun Wook takes Dal Bong (the dog) to the vet. He gets some distressing news: Dal Bong has to regain his appetite in order to get better. Se Na starts up as his dog-sitter again, and they go on a day trip to a park. Hae Yoon decides to interrupt their soiree, but the dog growls and snaps at her. She tells Se Na not to mistake Hyun Wook's kindness for interest.

Later, she gets a call from Kim Tae Woo (from the legendary band g.o.d) who wants to sing her song for use in a drama. Turns out that Hyun Wook arranged it all. That evening, as she and Hyun Wook listen to the final product, she puts the moves on Hyun Wook�to see if he's interested, but he brushes her advances aside. Of course when the album drops, she's no longer a trainee and no longer under their thumb anymore. She walks Dal Bong, but Shi Woo drops by and Dal Bong inadvertently escapes. Out of jealousy,�Hyun Wook fires her from her job as dog-sitter. Their relationship turns to one strictly of business and leaves Se Na crying more than once. After a party, Hae Yoon tries to kiss Hyun Wook, but he dodges the kiss. Soon, both Se Na and Hyun Wook find out Dal Bong�collapsed and he's not expected to live long. Se Na tries to comfort Hyun Wook,�and they end up kissing...

MY TAKE

How about that? We finally get a kiss. And this one was initiated by Hyun Wook. I've seen people on some forums talking about a father-daughter relationship. While it may have seemed like that at first, that kiss had nothing to do with familial love. We saw stirrings of this last episode, but nothing like this. I was waiting for this. I'm not too worried about the age gap. It's not like she's 14. She's almost 20. She should be capable of making her own choices.


Se Na is confused by hot and cold running Hyun Wook

Shi Woo is firmly friend-zoned, but I don't think he quite realizes it. Amusingly, his gift to her was a pair of shoes. There's a Korean superstition saying that shoes are a gift that you never give to a girl because she might run away from you or cheat on you. He may have engineered his own downfall. As much as Shi Woo might be a more age-appropriate pairing for Se Na, I don't think it's who she's supposed to end up with. I think his confidence issues might practically vanish if he had someone to love, though.

As for a Hyun Wook/Se Na romance, it doesn't leave the losers anything at all. I can't see Shi Woo ending up with Ra Eum again. That was a serious toxic relationship that doesn't need to be rebooted. And Hae Yoon has Jae Young, but he is a first class jerk. I can't imagine him being good boyfriend material. I like both Shi Woo and Hae Yoon. It would be sad if the writers didn't bring in worthy contenders for the sideline romances.

And the dog. Omo! I expected Hyun Wook's father as he was hospitalized, but not the dog. At least not so soon. Poor Dal Bong. I'm a dog-lover, can you tell?
