TRIANGLE EPISODE 24

Recap:
Jung Hee sees the car bearing down on Young Dal, and he narrowly avoids being hit thanks to her shouted warning. They compare notes and both find they received text messages from each other, then figuring out it was a ploy to bump off Young Dal and possibly Jung Hee,as well. Young Dal again tries to talk sense into Yang Ha, telling him that what he's fighting for had better be worth it. Walking Jung Hee home, Young Dal is invited in and takes counsel from Jung Hee's grandmother, who tells him not to be so hard on his mother. Just as he feared, Manager Hyun is arrested for the attempted murder of Elder Ahn, but walks free for lack of evidence. Chairman Go is dragged before Boss Min and Man Bong in the mistaken assumption he was behind the attempt on Young Dal's life. Go is beaten severely for mouthing off, but Young Dal tells Man Bong to release him.

Yong In, the brother from another father, calls Dong Soo and tells him their mother passed away. Everyone in Dong Soo and Young Dal's life attends the funeral: Jung Hee, Man Bong, Boss Min, Shin Hye, Madame Jang, and the pawnshop owner/adoptive father. Even Yang Ha shows up to pay his respects and cries alone. Chairman Go and Manager Hyun plot to get rid of Yang Ha after learninghe is brother to both Dong Soo and Young Dal. Yang Ha is very nearly aced out, and Manager Hyun is given most of the power. Young Dal lets his younger brother know that if he needs help, he's got it. Go's lackey meets with a man at a park and hands him Yang Ha's photo. Young Dal gets word that Yang Ha is in danger and notifies Dong Soo. Watched by the killer, Dong Soo and Young Dal confront Yang Ha about the danger he's in...

Boss Min's henchmen abduct Chairman Go.

My take:
It seems like in most K-Dramas, no matter the genre, you need to have a loved one die, particularly in a character-driven one. It's a way to squeeze a few tears from the audience, I think, and things can be revealed at funerals that might seem out of place elsewhere. Yang Ha's possible defection was given a new wrinkle, a ray of hope, since he actually showed up to -- and cried at -- a funeral that he flatly refused to go to initially. I'm hoping that, now that Yang Ha has nothing to lose, he will join his two biological brothers.

Young Dal's relationship with Man Bong continues to surprise me. He refers to Chairman Go as a "gift" -- hardly something you'd get for someone who owes you money. I think, in large part, Man Bong has bought into Young Dal's fight against Daejung and isn't just helping him so that he can be paid back. He seems to have almost a paternal affection for Young Dal. Of course, he may shock me yet again and demand his money once the fight is done.

Yang Ha cries at his mother's funeral

Bumping off Yang Ha as a wild card seems to be reckless, but thenManager Hyun and Chairman Go are not known for their wisdom, really. A low animal cunning certainly, but not any capacity for deep thought. Yang Ha, as near as I can tell, has been cut loose. True, there might be some craziness there that might bubble to the surface, but I'm not certain that he's all that dangerous now. This week's episodes have shown Yang Ha to be uncertain and more pensive; he finds his dad's activities distasteful and risky. I just don't see him as a particularly worthy adversary.

I like how Young Dal seems to keep dialing it back when he deals with Yang Ha. I know he initially let his rage do the thinking this episode, but eventually he figured that he can attract more flies with honey. I'm guessing that if he can convince Yang Ha that he and Dong Soo are sincere and welcoming, then the young chaebol will run to them with open arms. That may well be the case, but I have to wait to find out like everyone else.

The three brothers meet.

Wow. One week left, and we still don't entirely know what's going to happen. I predict that Young Dal will ace Chairman Go out of Daejung, and Boss Min and Man Bong will have to step in to deal with the fallout. Go will probably get pummeled more, as they seem to enjoy showing us that. :) Yang Ha will be protected against the hired killer and joinDong Soo and Young Dal(Of course, he could still be loyal to Daejung, in which case the killer will succeed, and Yang Ha will confess his love for his brothers on his deathbed).

Also, we will see Manager Hyun brought low, perhaps killed by Dong Soo while he tries to eliminate Young Dal. I believe Chairman Yoon's crimes will be brought before the police, and he will head to jail. Did I just about cover it? What do you think might happen? What do you hope will happen?
