TRIANGLE EPISODE 21

Recap:
Dong Soo wants Young Dal to leave Yang Ha alone, but the young tough refuses. Young Dal remembers all the times the two youngest brothers were at each others' throats and weeps for what he has do. Director Yoon informs Yang Ha that he will be made CEO if he takes down Dong Soo and Young Dal. General Manager Hyun and Chairman Go plot how to take down Yang Ha, and so they use Jung Hee, keeping her employed as a dealer as she is Yang Ha's weakness. Yang Ha asks Yoo Jin what he can do to make things right between them.

Young Dal finally gives in to Jung Hee's repeated requests for a date and enjoys an idyllic time with her. Even Jung Hee tells him to leave Yang Ha alone as he is a tortured soul. Boss Min, Man Bong and Young Dal meet with Gang Sun Tae, a lobbyist broker who intends to blackmail Chairman Yoon for some cash. Young Dal turns him over to the prosecutor, intending to have Chairman Yoon and Chairman Go investigated and jailed. Instead, Chairman Yoon insists that the young CEO take responsibility. Young Dal begs Yang Ha not to do this, but the chaebol doesn't listen. So Young Dal pulls the ace from his sleeve: he informs Yang Ha that they are brothers.

My take:
Every time Yang Ha reinvents himself to get into father's good graces again, he ends up as an arrogant ass. In his attempt to win back Yoo Jin's family, he casually offers to marry her! As if he were some great prize she was trying to win. His conversations with Young Dal are clipped and demanding. It's almost like he's trying to act like an adult, but the main role models he has are the corrupt men in Daejung Group, such as his father.

And now Yang Ha knows he is Dong Soo's and Young Dal's brother, but what is he likely to do with the information? I've had some theories all along. He may want to avenge his father's death by taking down Chairman Yoon, informing the prosecutor of his adoptive father's crimes. He may decide sibling rivalry is the easier route and continue to try to rid himself of Young Dal and Dong Soo. Of course, all this assumes that he believes Young Dal, which I don't think he will. It's a little difficult to accept revelations from someone for whom you have no respect.

"Try to impress me with your sincerity."

Jung Hee is aware she is being used, I think. She talks of quitting her job and tries to keep those sorts of rumors away from her grandmother. Her reinstatement could have been made smoother perhaps, but it comes at the same time Yang Ha is offered the CEO position. I'm not sure she knows the depth of the conspiracy, but I believe she has the sense that not everything's right with the way she keeps her job. I'm thinking Go and Hyun's plan may well backfire unless there's something they plan to do to Jung Hee to put leverage on Yang Ha...

There seemed to be a distinct lack of action here. A lot of talk, a few shady deals, but there was nothing exciting happening. This does not mean the plot wasn't moving forward, but still... We didn't see a lot of Boss Min,Man Bong, ora lot of gambling; mostly, this episode was notable for what we didn't see. It's a gamble in itself to make an episode that way, but I'm betting the writers were relying on the fact that the regular viewers are too sucked into the drama to care.

Shin Hye: "You made a mistake. Yang Ha is the one going to prison."

Waiting eagerly for the next episode. Everything's now hanging in the balance. I really want to find out where Yang Ha ends up. I'm also hoping for a more action-packed installment!
