It may have been 7 years since Go Hyun Jung had a divorce with her former husband, but it seems like she is still blacklisted by his department store. If you didn't know, Go Hyun Jung had gotten married to a man who was the nephew of the Samsung Group CEO and had two children with him. The man's mother was the sister of the Samsung CEO, and together, her ex-husband and his mum ran Shinsegae Department Store, one of the largest in Korea. After the divorce, Go Hyun Jung never saw her children again (never stood a chance in custody battle) and was left with a small alimony and broken reputation (women who divorce in Korea are looked down upon). Go Hyun Jung was picked to model for Lancome recently, with large-scale promotions being done for it. Regardless of any online shopping malls or departmental stores, you can see Go Hyun Jung's face being displayed prominently. But Go Hyun Jung's face is conspicuously missing from Shinsegae Department Stores. And even though the store does sell Lancome products, the promotional posters have been changed to that of a generic foreign model instead of Go Hyun Jung. It's rumoured that in 2005, two years after the divorce, Shinsegae Department Store had passed down a ruling that stated that none of its stores are allowed to display any Go Hyun Jung-related material. And 7 years down the road, it looks like the ruling is still being enforced. And this is not a random case, as Go Hyun Jung's endorsement of a certain refrigerator brand has also met with the same fate. And just for the record, Go Hyun Jung is the face of LG Electronics, the direct competitor to Samsung. And because she can't see her children, Go Hyun Jung had expressed in interviews that she hopes to continue acting for as long as possible so that her children can see her through the television and cinemas.
