Girls’ Generation’s Sunny (real name Lee Sun Kyu) celebrated her 20th birthday (21 Korean age) on May 15th and her fans congratulated her in the oldest, common, most unimaginative way, with a newspaper ad. A cluster of fans that call themselves ‘The 2030 Group,’ a collection of 20-30 year old Girls’ Generation fans, posted the ad in the classified section of a Seoul newspaper. There was something special about Sunny’s birthday ad that made it stand out from Soo Young’s and Jessica’s past birthday ads. The reason being, placed in the 2030 Group’s ad was a portrait of Sunny that an ajosshi fan drew by hand. He did a pretty damn good job too. The messages that the fans left said, “Thank you to Sunny’s father in Kuwait for bringing Sunny, who is more dazzling than the sun, into this world .” “To our cute, sweet, lovable and talented singer Sunny, happy birthday!” “Sunny, who has a smile that never fails to brighten the world like the May sunshine, stay happy.” The 2030 group didn’t just place the ad in the newspaper for Sunny’s birthday. They also donated books to a school in her name. Personally, I wasn’t a fan of Sunny until Gee came out. The first time I watched the Gee music video is when I really noticed Sunny and her cute little curvy body. Sunny may not be the hottest member of Girls’ Generation but, after I paid more attention to her, I came to the conclusion that she’s the member of SNSD that is mostly likely to be a freak in between the sheets and be willing to experiment a little in the bedroom. I also have a present, but it’s something that I could only give to her in person.
