The controversial issue regarding celebrity sponsors was discussed on Channel A's 'Heard It Through the Grapevine'.

On the March 13 airing, comedian Kim Ji Min who joined as a panelist asked the reporters if sponsors really do exist in the entertainment industry.

A reporter mentioned the controversy involving Jisoo from TAHITI and revealed that the sponsor brokers carry out their duty in a systematic format. The reporter also explained the details of a sponsor contract.

The reporter stated, "I've spoken with a sponsor broker and I was told that there are rankings. There aren't many A class (celebrities). B class receives about 15,000,000 KRW (~$13,000 USD) and C class gets paid about 3,000,000 KRW (~$2,600 USD). This is not for every meeting but it's a package of at least 3 months."

Another reporter added that the pay is highly influenced by the celebrity's class. Each member of a girl group can have a different class depending on their popularity, visuals, etc. For actresses, the dramas and movies they've worked on decide their class.

The sponsor contract also includes a clause about pregnancy and abortion. If the celebrity gets pregnant, she must get an abortion in another country. The reporter explained, "The contract lays out who will be paying how much for the trip and their responsibilities in detail."

Tsk.... this is standard practice. Politics is dirty but entertainment is dirtier. Only idiots think the world is pure.

All these comments.... You do realise that this sort of thing happens in the West, many actresses and singers have done the same for many years.

Those details aren't really shocking. On the other hand the sponsorship is quite sickening. Guess even if it's a choice for some, other celeb might just be forced to sail their body to survive and that's really disgusting. Instead of asking for the celebs name I'd rather know who those sponsors are. They are the disgusting one.

Considering how 80-90 percent of them only earn 6000 USD per year (per AKP article), its not shocking at all, some sell their body and some their trophies lol... They have to pay their bills afterall...

Only the not so popular ones will resort to a sponsor, Like the reporter says "There aren't many A class (celebrities)". Why would they need a sponsor if they are popular or have a big company as support in the 1st place.

Why do they need sponsors? I thought the agency gives them what they need like food, boarding/lodging, clothes, etc? Enlighten me. Jebal~

While a lot of their expenses will be covered not all. And if they have any sense they will try to save as much money as possible for when their contract ends and their income dissappears. But I dont condone selling your body for cash.

I see. I mean as a trainee you've suffered enough but to sell your body is double the suffering. Who am I to tell, anyway. I hope they put a stop in it.

oh... They finally dare to talk about it ? WOW Korea is making a lot of democratic progress recently ! as of today, the most democratic countries are all in Europe but in the future S.Korea might make an entry in the top of list. actually I'm surprised by how quick Korea is changing, also in the music industry, I see many changes. It's not like a big revolution, but little step by step.
