'Drinking Alone' producer commits suicide + family preparing a legal battle against CJ E&M / tvN

Producer Lee who worked for tvN's drama, 'Drinking Alone' has reportedly committed suicide.

According to the reports, the producer was found dead in a hotel in Gangnam on October 26 at around 4 A.M.

Producer Lee had joined CJ E&M / tvN as a production producer back in January 2016 and worked on 'Drinking Alone' as an assistant producer. His sudden death after not even a year into working at a large company raises many questions.

It has also been revealed that Lee's family recently met up with people from CJ E&M / tvN and demanded the restoration of producer Lee's honor and reputation, and an investigative committee -- including two congressmen, student union, lawyers and others -- have been formed.

According to an acquaintance of the family, the family did not accept CJ staff members at the funeral but allowed about 2,000 Seoul University students to pay their respects.

The letter Producer Lee wrote before his death has not been released to the public, and the family has stated, "Even if we don't win, we will fight against CJ...We thank all the people who are standing by us for [Lee's] restoration of reputation and honor."

It is not clear what happened between the producer and CJ E&M / tvN, but the family is preparing for a legal battle.

and i have zero respect or tolerance for someone who obviously has not gone through suicidal thoughts and/or depression. i've gone through both, you need to stfu. it takes so much time, energy, effort, and breaking points for someone to choose such a dark way to go and you just- YOU DON'T KNOW THEM. YOU'VE ONLY HEARD LESS THAN A PERCENT OF HIS STORY. I don't see why people are supporting and feeling sorry for people who commit suicide. I can totally understand if they are dying from terminal disease and suffering from great pain. Knowing you're about to die anytime might as well end the pain. However honestly speaking people who commit suicide because of hardship is taking the easy way out without. What about family and friends? People who have been supporting and trying to help? Those people are suffering at the same time and when 1 choose to suicide they are giving people who love and care for them more pain. I don't care how much people who suffer from depression or hardship supports this and feel sorry for this person ending their life. This is why there's therapy and people should seek help and improve their condition. So I honestly cannot understand why people feel sorry for those who commits suicide. I feel terrible and sorry for what has happened to him all the unjust, he deserved all the help and be treated fairly. I however don't support and don't feel sorry at all about the suicide. I can use pretty words too and say i'm so sorry rest in peace it's not fair so on. However I just think those people are supporting and saying suicide is a good thing. How can people say I can totally understand why he killed himself because he's facing hardship? Isn't this the same as telling people if you're suffering go commit suicide because many will feel sorry for you and understand your hardship and with your death whoever caused your death will get the blow? I don't know what you people think and I don't care but we should never support the thought of suicide being a good idea.

In no way do I support suicide but no one can fully understand the thoughts of a suicidal person. Until you’ve stared down that level of depression, until you’ve lost your soul to a sea of emptiness and darkness... you don’t get to make those judgments. You might not understand it, and you are certainly entitled to your own feelings, but making those judgments and spreading that kind of negativity won’t help the next person. In fact, it will only hurt others.

supporting suicide?? no one in this thread ENCOURAGED suicide. you think suicidal people don't think about everything and everyone they will leave behind?? and feel guilty?? why do you think they still choose to go through it?? because they're so fucking depressed and sad and dead on the inside that they might as well not just live another day. + people go through struggles in different ways, some more positive than others. for people who are clinically depressed, it is much more negative and every little thing can seem like your fault.

and the sympathetic part, or "feeling sorry"?? it's often because of the things we did not notice or did not care enough to ask "are you okay". school bullying. academic and/or social life. sexual harassment. family problems. the list goes on and on. if someone had cared a bit, if they had gotten professional help just a bit earlier, they would've realized someone cared. really cared about them. not just shallow love. so don't you dare try to belittle those who attempt suicide if you've never felt those thoughts yourselves. don't tell me they're attention-seekers. if someone wanted attention, they would wait to see it happen in their lifetime. not end it.

WTF I seriously don't get what they are suing for? Did they do something bad to him? Cause from this article there was nothing that indicate it was CJ E&M TVN fault. He could have easily had problem previously before working with CJ E&M TVN or problem that is not related to CJ E&M TVN. Why are they blaming CJ E&M TVN for his suicide? Was there evidence CJ E&M TVN did something to him?
