Lee Jong Suk dished on his personal ending preference for MBC's 'W'.

On September 13, production company Chorokbaem Media asked Lee Jong Suk to share his ideal ending for the drama. The actor answered, "So many things have happened, I'm not sure how a happy ending will fit in smoothly. This will also depend on the screenwriter. Personally, I prefer sad endings. I think it'll be good to have a smooth, sad ending. A smooth context and an appropriate farewell will be a heartache, but understandable. It will also makes the drama linger in your mind longer."

Lee Jong Suk added, "To be honest, wrapping it up as how Yeon Joo imagined with love, marriage, and family will be the best ending."

[SPOILER ALERT] !!!...I'm totally on Lee Jong Suk's side on this. Make-sense-ending though it's sad.

Let's hope the writers have a different opinion.  I too, in my youth, thought somehow that sad endings were more substantial LOL  I've found that it's HOW one gets to the ending that makes it real or not, rather than whether it's a 'happy' or 'sad' one....

Sometimes it makes me wonder if they gave us many kiss scenes only to make it sad in the end. He maybe right, but i think, a happy ending is a must, since they have all suffered for one. Especially Oh Yeon Joo. She had always hoped to be happy in the end with Kang Chul and her father.  :"(

A sad ending would definitely make this drama lose out in terms of long term popularity right? All of the previous dramas that were listed in the top 10 of international drama fans had a good ending. I personally hate sad endings, (so glad I never watched UF, I knew I would've disliked it) and after everything that's happened in this drama it should have a good ending, but a balanced one too...? A bad ending would almost seem too thrown together for this show, it never had a super serious melodramatic theme that would suit a bad end. I'm disappointed too, because they've pretty much added too much drama overall, idk. I think it would hold up more if the beginning was more drawn out, meaning that extra complications that we're seeing around the end now could be avoided. I always feel like dramas lose steam around the end, I was hoping W would be different  :( Oh well, it was amazing while it lasted...

Uncontrollably Fond! Its a drama that just finished starring Kim woo bin and Suzy. It was pretty much established at the start that the male lead only had a few months left to live and that didn't change near the end :'(

And this is EXACTLY why I wait for dramas to end before I start them, made my first mistake with Fashion King and learned my lesson loud and clear. Sad endings may have  more lingering effect on the viewer's mind, but definitely lowers the re-watch value... at least for me
