Actress Lee Min Jung has opened up about the painful family story of losing her older sister.
On September 30, a video titled “Lee Min Jung visits her parents’ home. Planned a date but her son and father came along too” was uploaded to the YouTube channel 'Lee Min Jung MJ'.
In the video, Lee Min Jung’s mother said, “After giving birth to children, I developed rhinitis. Whenever I was exposed to cold air, I sneezed over 100 times,” adding, “It continued while I was raising three children.” She then corrected herself, saying, “Actually, it was while I was raising two.”
At this point, Lee Min Jung explained, “It’s okay to talk about it. There were three, but one passed away before I was born.” Her mother then revealed the heartbreaking truth: “We lost the baby after a fever from a vaccination.”
Lee Min Jung continued, “That’s why my mom used to tremble whenever I had to get shots. I didn’t understand it back then. Whenever I was getting vaccinated, my mom would cry so much. I thought, ‘Why is Mom crying? I’m fine,’ and I even tried to reassure her while smiling. Because she cried so much, I smiled through the injections.”
Her mother added, “I developed a kind of neurosis whenever the kids got sick. I was terrified something might happen. I barely let them eat, thinking they might choke, and I panicked over even the smallest illness.”
Lee Min Jung recalled, “I only found out about this in high school. I saw a photo of my mom holding a baby girl, but it wasn’t me. I was so shocked, I even wondered if my mom had remarried. I imagined all kinds of scenarios, but later I learned the truth. It’s something my mom still carries deep in her heart.”
