K-pop artists likely not to appear at this year's 'Kokahu Uta Gassen'

Amidst territory disputes over Dokdo Island between South Korea and Japan, K-pop artists might not be welcome at this year's 'Kohaku Uta Gassen', Japan's biggest year-end music festival.

A representative of�NHK (Japan Broadcasting Corporation) stated: "The fact that President Lee Myung Bak (of South Korea) has demanded an apology is a great factor. After this Dokdo incident occurred, there have been more and more Hallyu stars who have stated that 'Dokdo is ours'. Considering this, viewers might have ill feelings about the K-pop stars appearing."

Considering his statements on the matter, it's likely that K-pop artists will not be appearing at this year's event. TVXQ, Girls' Generation, and KARA made an appearance on the program last year.
