On June 4 KST, girl group ablume revealed a 'Bossa Ver.' live clip for "Cupid", originally released by FIFTY FIFTY in 2023.
In the live clip, Sio, Saena, and Aran showcased their melodic vocals and impeccable harmony by the poolside, recreating "Cupid" as a summer jam.
Previously, Sio, Saena, and Aran became wrapped up in a contract termination lawsuit against their debut agency, ATTRAKT. During the legal dispute, FIFTY FIFTY's production team The Givers faced accusations of attempting to "poach" the girl group from their label. While the dispute between ATTRAKT, The Givers, and the 3 members remains unresolved, FIFTY FIFTY re-debuted in September of 2024 with original member Keena and 4 new members. Sio, Saena, and Aran also successfully re-debuted as ablume in May of this year.
Notably, ablume re-debuted approximately a day after the Seoul Central District Court rejected ATTRAKT's intellectual property rights claim lawsuit against The Givers on May 8 KST. According to the court's initial decision, The Givers possesses exclusive rights to use the song "Cupid" for commercial purposes as the legally recognized creator of the song, effectively banning FIFTY FIFTY from any claims to the song. ATTRAKT has since announced its decision to appeal the court's decision.
In light of these developments, ablume made a bold move on June 4 by "reclaiming" the song that the members originally sang with the name FIFTY FIFTY. You can listen to ablume's 'Bossa' version of "Cupid", above.
