Today, the music video for the experimental melding of American country music and Korean trot "Corny Love Song" was released by JYP Entertainment. It was written by J.Y. Park and performed by YOYOMI, the up-and-coming trot singer. 

YOYOMI is nicknamed the "Singing Fairy" and "IU of the highways" for her cuteness and popularity in the playlist of long-distance truck drivers and cargo shippers. She debuted as a trot solo artist in 2018 and has won multiple rookie and popularity awards as a trot singer. She is also gaining popularity for her trot-influenced covers of both K-pop and American pop songs on her Youtube channels. 

Last year, J.Y. Park began his JYP HardDrive Release project, where he started releasing songs that he had written but didn't have a specific artist in mind to perform. The first of these songs was Corny Love Song, which he demo'ed for Rain to hear. Rain suggested that J.Y. Park hold auditions to find a suitable singer for the song, which JYP eventually took. He issued a call for singers of all backgrounds to submit online recordings of their version of the song's chorus, resulting in an outpouring of various video clips of established singers as well as Youtubers and singing aspirants sending in covers of the song.

J.Y. Park then held in-person auditions alongside Kim Taewoo of g.o.d. to select the final artist who would perform the song on the online radio show GoStar BuStar (part 1 and part 2, English-subbed). This resulted in YOYOMI being selected, and a short series of online videos on J.Y. Park's official Youtube channel showed the process of her preparing for the song and being introduced to JYP Entertainment, including getting advice from Nayeon of TWICE: episodes 1, 2, 3 & 4 (all with English subs).
