
On May 28th, a fire broke out at an aging commercial building in Sanlim-dong, Jung-gu, Seoul at around 3:25 PM today, prompting an ongoing response from the fire authorities.
According to the fire department, one person sustained minor injuries and was transported to a hospital for treatment.
In response to the fire, authorities issued a Level 2 emergency alert at 4:37 PM. A total of 52 vehicles and 180 personnel were dispatched to the scene to contain the blaze.
A fire official said that as the area is densely packed with commercial properties, the suppression effort is taking longer than usual.
The fire has caused significant traffic disruptions. All lanes from Euljiro 4-ga to Euljiro 3-ga have been fully closed to vehicles, leading to severe congestion.
The Jung-gu District Office issued a public safety alert advising residents to take precautions. The message stated that due to heavy smoke in the Euljiro 4-ga area, traffic has been restricted. Residents are advised to keep windows closed and wear masks when going outside.
Authorities continue their efforts to extinguish the fire and ensure public safety in the affected area.
